When the world was young there was a primal magic that could be called upon to heal, protect, and destroy. The Prime, as this magic was called, could be harnessed to permanently enchant all manner of items. This use of Prime magic lead to the creation of many powerful artifacts. Entire battles were fought over the right to wield the most powerful of these items. These battles were called the Artifact Wars and gave rise to Prime wielders that searched for a more powerful use of Prime magic. The strongest of the wielders conducted forbidden experiments upon himself and his loyal hounds.

The experiments conducted were designed to enchant the wielder’s physical body with pure Prime magic. The intention was to create a human who could act as a focus for Prime energy as an artifact does. However, the experiments ended in chaos when the Prime magic backfired. The wielder was infused with two aspects of Prime magic’s energy: Fire and Shadow. These energies transformed the wielder’s body rapidly as the magic settled in. The entire building was destroyed as primal fire and shadow engulfed it. Help arrived too late and only found a smoking ruin of the building before with no signs of its inhabitants.

Several nights after the event a dark smoke forms in the ruin of the broken building. Flames arc out from the smoke as a dark portal manifests. The creature that steps through this portal back into the area he once knew is no longer the Prime magic wielder he was before. Now he is a twisted creature of pure fire and shade… he is the demon Acerbus Nox!



Acerbus Nox is called the Shadowflame and Shadowknight196. He is a demon of intense power with no knowledge of his previous human life. He has the ability to command Shadowfire, a combination of Fire and Shadow Prime magic. His abilities change and evolve as he fights but Acerbus has been seen summoning Prime magic weapons, Shadow portals, and blasts of pure Flame. Acerbus Nox is feared across the land for his brutal attacks and twisted sense of justice. As his infamy spreads there have some, especially among Prime magic wielders, that have begun to refer to Acerbus as a dark hero. They say that he is the darkness the world needs to fight against the magical corruption that has set in during the Artifact Wars.

Acerbus Nox was not the only creature affected by the Prime magic experiments. Brand and Scar are Acerbus’ loyal Shadowguards. They are also imbued with the energies of Shadow and Fire. Though they are called the Hellhounds they are more humanoid now than before their change. Shadow Leap and Flame Breath are their more common abilities.
