Combo 101 - The Basics
By storm
At first glance, it seems easy to ZZZZ your way through dungeons. While that's ok in earlier stages, it's best to get started on learning some combos before getting too far into the game.
Knockdown (KD) is a very important game mechanic that the game itself doesn't address to the players (at least not directly). KD will often work against you if you don't know how it works. In PvE, you do less damage to enemies that have been knocked down. In PvP, you can't do any damage to someone who has been knocked down.
This guide lists a few basic combos you can perform with each character.

Why Do I Need to Learn How to Combo?
In Elsword exists a mechanic called knockdown (KD). KD is normally a bad thing in both PvP and PvE, because it reduces your damage output.

In PvP, once you've knocked over your opponent, you can't hurt them until they stand back up.

PvE is a little different. You can still do damage to downed enemies, but there is a damage penalty. This penalty isn't noticable in earlier dungeons, but it increases the further you get into the game. Not only will this slow down dungeon runs but it may also hurt you and your teammates since some enemies can hurt you while getting back up.

By learning basic combos, you will be able to reduce how often you knock monsters down and therefore do more damage.
What Are Combos?
A combo is a sequence of keys that performs a string of consecutive attacks. Loops are combos that can be repeated over and over again until the enemy falls down.
You can view a characters default combos by going into your Skills (K) window and clicking on the Action tab in the upper right. Here, your combos are organized by your initial key input. They're pretty self-explanatory.
  • General: combos that can be performed when you are standing or walking.
  • Jump: combos that you can pull off after you jump.
  • Dash: combos that can be done when you are running.
  • Dash Jump: combos you can do if you jump while running.
Here are Elsword's General combos at his base job. At the end of all his combos you can see key inputs marked either ↓DOWN or ↑UP.
  • ↓DOWN means that when Elsword performs that action, the enemy will be knocked down. Avoid these.
  • ↑UP means that Elsword will launch the enemy up into the air. If you launch an enemy and let it hit the ground instead of catching it, it will be knocked down. This is not recommended for party play, because even if you catch this can annoy your teammates.
Every character and class has their own unique combo tree, so make sure to get familiar with what your character can do as well as what knocks down and launches!

Ending Notes
I literally listed these combos off the top of my head and I am no expert with any of these classes (Aisha and Rena especially...), so I apologize in advance for any mistakes I made. Also, I'm sure I left out a lot of combos.

So if you spot any mistakes, want to make a suggestion, or have a combo you'd like to share, please do not hesitate to leave a comment!

But please remember this is meant to be a general guide! For more specific guides for certain classes, check out the other guides here on Steam or on the Elsword Forums[enforums.elswordonline.com].

This is a fantastic in depth guide about not KDing, which is a very large mechanic in Elsword and I'm glad you made a guide on it, not just a guide, but an amazing guide!

You explained alot, but like some have said, when you get the chance, you need to add, Elesis, Ara, Add and Lu/Ciel, and somewhat soon, Rose, too.

^^ )/ Thanks for sharing though!

beautiful guide man. Only now I've realized how bad battle seraph is..... almost all of her attacks result in either a KD or a launch. :sad_creep:
