I'm not criticising your mod, just curious on the reasoning for it with the amount of time took me in-game. Cheers.
Getting traditions feels much more consistent. Seemed like it was around ~25 months for a new one early game, ~60 months mid-game. Basically had about 4 ascenion points by 2300, and looked like I was keeping at about that pace.
Compartively, vanilla feels like it scales up VERY quickly.. You're basically stuck with 5 ascenion points into the endgame unless you try and focus on unity. That makes sense when you only get to choose from 8, but less so when you want to unlock and explore a ton with mods.
Oh right, that would make sense. I think they removed cost_planet and cost_planets after the admin points change. Got that formula from the data file, guess it's not updated. I think admin points just apply the percentage after the formula for increasing cost if you're over the cap. But honestly have no idea.
Although the cost_planet and cost_system appears to be zero rendering the latter half of the formula irrelevant - at least for the current (2.2.2) version.
I'm currently play testing this and might make further adjustments. But it seems rather fair still at the end.
The example (see the screenshot) this formula was initially based on: With 3 tradition groups left (Expanded Stellaris Traditions) and average income of 7k unity you would need about 19 months for picking a tradition.
TRADITION_COST_TRADITION = 8
TRADITION_COST_TRADITION_EXP = 1.700
TRADITION_COST_MULT_TRADITION_GROUP = 0.05
Mod:
TRADITION_COST_TRADITION = 10.5
TRADITION_COST_TRADITION_EXP = 1.500
TRADITION_COST_MULT_TRADITION_GROUP = 0.025
Tradition cost formula:
tradition cost = ( base_cost + ( cost_tradition * num_traditions )^traditions_exponential ) * ( 1 + cost_planet*num_planets + cost_system*num_systems )
So basically the base cost was increased by 30%, and the exponential (how fast it scales up) was decreased by around 10%. The "adopted group" adds a cost based on each group that you have adopted. This was decreased by half.
Overall, it appears fairly well balanced on paper if you want to have many groups of traditions :) but it should be play-tested to verify this is true.
