On the isles of the archipelago you can find 13 and harvest 9 resources.
When you click often enough with LMB and with the right tool, the resource with drop into a parcel:

Pick them up by holding E or shooting your grappling hook at them. You can carry as many as your toolbar has free spaces. Put the parcel onto a cargo pad by tapping E when looking at one while having it selected. You can drop parcels just as tools by pressing Shift+1/2/3/4. Get your hands free with 0.

You can find refined cargo parcels on cargo ships (those are defensive). Those ones are purer and get you more resource units per parcel. Wood, Nitranite and Aetherium can also be refined in refineries in player forts.

Gold is a multipurpose resource used to access special research and contract fort functions. It can be acquired by collecting bounties placed on ships across the archipelago or looting it from cargo ships and forts. 30 units per parcel.

Arcenite is a specialized fort building resource. Arcenite is not naturally occuring and can be acquired by stealing it from cargo ships, defeating ancient constructs or delivering the artifact. 5 units per parcel.

Synthest is a specialized ship building resource. Synthest is not naturally occuring and can only be acquired by claiming the contents of synthesizers across the archipelago. 100 units per capture.

Demon Flesh is a specialized ship resource. It can be harvested by hitting the flesh of washed up demon corpses with an axe. Demon corpses rarely appear on the coasts of a few islands of the archipelago. Disturbing the demon corpses summons a guardian.

Ancient Bone see Demon Flesh

And then you can harvest the oil which looks like this:

Harvest with Pickaxe!
According to your captain-, crew-shares which you set up before starting the expedition you and your crew will get a different amount of resources after completing a contract.

You can either do what you want, accept and do fort contracts or participate in map missions.

(The symbols below can be seen on the ingame map and indicate a point of interest as explained below)

Installations are completed by defeating all marked ships on the island. Once all ships are defeated, resources rewards can be claimed by activating the caches marked with a gold diamond. Collected resources are added direclty to stockpile and are shared amongst allies.

Siege
Instead of captaining or crewing on a ship you can also do sieges. You can select a ship and will spawn next to a fort that needs to be protected for 3 waves. The ship costs nothing and you will get resources after each wave which are divided equally amongst all crewmembers.

Artifact Escort is completed by escorting the levitating artifact to any fort on the Archipelago. The artifact will follow the heaviest nearby ship and move slower when enemy ships are in the vicinity. Destroying ships in the vicinity of the artifact transmutes them into resources rewarded upon delivery. The resources are added directly to stockpile and are shared amongst allies.

Synthesizer Capture is completed by being the closest ship to the synthesizer when it unlocks. If your ship controls the synthesizer the compass marker will appear gold. Captured resources are added directly to stockpile and are shared amongst allies. 100 Synthest per mission.

According to your captain-, crew-shares which you set up before starting the expedition you and your crew will get a different amount of resources after completing a contract.

You can either do what you want, accept and do fort contracts or participate in map missions.

When you arrive at a port you can accept five kinds of contracts (Deliveries, Harvests, Hunts, Rescues, Captures) which will get you resources (except Arcenite, Gold, Synthest, Demon Flesh, Ancient Bone) as reward. There are boards at those ports where you can accept them.
You can accept a total of 4 contracts but can also abort them.

For beginners it's recommended to do Harvests or Deliveries.

For Deliveries you need to deliver parcels to a location.
You can deliver 32 to 64 parcels in one contract. You can only accept more delivery contracts if you still have cargo space on your ship left.

For Harvests you need to harvest # parcels of one resource and deliver it to the port you enlisted for the mission.

For Hunts you need to destroy either all guns or all engines on a given structure to optain the reward.

For Rescues you need to get to the ship in need and repair it to get it airworthy. Then you can harpoon it and drag it to the port you signed the contract.

For Captures you need to do the same as with Rescues except the fact that it is intact and will try to kill you. Destroying all engines fails the contract.

While getting more reputation on a port you also get more benefits e.g. having more contract options available or extracting ship cargo with higher efficiency.

Extracting your ship cargo will credit all the resources in your cargo hold to your Stock.
Extracting your ship will credit all the resources in your cargo hold to your stock and kick you out of the Expedition. You don't get back resources of destroyed parts.
All other options are self-explaining.

Do you know where is the Redmen's Picaxe, and the Redmen's knief?

Finally I know what to look for when hunting pigeons. Do you know if you have to have a certain resolution setting to see Pigeons? Or are they that rare.

Updated!
I have no idea if the meat or bones are a consistend resource now and also haven't encountered any fighters.
Tea_Aitch_Sea 『CS』 24 Oct, 2019 @ 11:17am
The arcenite information is outdated, you can no longer get it from forts but you can get it from cargo ships, fighting the mechalodon, or escorting the artifact to a extraction fort

Will you add the new resource too? the meat things and how to fight them?
