This is a decent bandaid but what really needs to happen is the developers bugfixing the guard ai so they swap to their Halbard for combat. Personally I find it extremely disapointing that I need to resort to mods for such a gamebreaking bug, I do not understand how Klei could fully release the dlc with such a glaring oversight.
