I'm just pointing out that if by performance you mean the number of frames per second, the problem remains inherent in the game's management of the number of elements in play and the mechanical management of the population and elements in memory. The modeling of an element is not the cause of lag (of course, you don't need hundreds of assets at more than 100k frames even if recent cards can handle it without any problem.
To summarize, the performance concerns are primarily related to an aging management engine, the graphics performance evolves with the cards and is not blocked.
Anyway, with C:S2 recently unveiled, I don't plan to reedit the existing resources that have been widely downloaded and appreciated over time, I will continue to offer some content nevertheless and focus on this future project :)

Is it possible to modify such assets to reduce the mesh counts to a reasonable size perhaps? Repurpose it and make another version with less LOD? I am thinking of this for quite some time now. Creating a collection of popular assets optimized for performance while not cutting the beautiful details much.

I know it sounds like a huge project. Since most assets that I like have this issue. Even with 64GB of ram and a good GPU they get out of hand very soon If I'm not careful and lose control of their number.

The bottleneck in the vast majority of cases is not the graphics card and therefore the number of tris but the processing of many instances simultaneously or the fact of being subscribed to thousands of assets.
I make sure that the lod versions are as low as possible in the number of sorts for an optimal display in remote view.
Thank you in any case to take care of the well being of the users who would like to download this asset, but no fear to have on this one :)

For your information, this model is based on the one in the game, so yes, the model exceeds 89 tris (1089 when 1000 is defined as the base limit) but for all that, it is not on this type of asset that there will be an impact on the game.
The limits were defined when the game was released in 2015, since then our graphics cards (which manage the display of these tris) have greatly improved to be able to support much more complex assets (and modern games also)
The props are indeed subject to a stricter limit because they are normally just simple elements of decoration, a vehicle by nature, even if in this case is a decoration, will always be more complex.
