How to Fix lag and the Microstutter

Note: this is a guide to fix issues with the game, not make it run on a low end PC

Note_2: this was Done through Windows 10 for me so i cant guarantee that it may work on older versions of windows

Note_3: Buy Redux, it waaaaaaay better

1. Enable VSync
Their are 2 user.cfg files that need to be edited

(makes sure you have "Show hidden files" enabled or you wont see the appdata folder)

C:\Users\"YourProfile"\AppData\Local\4A Games\Metro 2033\user.cfg
And
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\283323302\43110\remote\user.cfg

in both open with notepad and Find the line that says "r_vsync off" and change it to on

Save
2. Custom Profile via Nvidia Control Panel
Open Nvida Control Panel

Select Manage 3D setting and go to Program settings tab

find the Metro2033.exe and select it

-set-

Maximum Pre-rendered frames to 4
Power management mode to Prefer maximum Performance
Vertical sync to fast



*and save*

3. Unpark Cpu cores
Download and install this software-
https://bitsum.com/parkcontrol/

Open-

Their should be a drop down menu, select Bitsum Highest Performance

Apply and close Program By selecting ok at the bottom

4. Ingame Option
game Options
Disable ADVANCED PhysX (requires Restart)

Graphics Options

Set Quality to normal (or High depending or your system)

Set DirectX to 11

Set AntiAliasing to AAA

Set the rest to what you wish

DirectX 11 Option

Turn off everything here
5. Fix Microstutter
While the game is open, start task manager

Go to the Details tab

find the metro2033 exe process

right click

select set Priority and set to Realtime

(Warning: this will need to be done every time the game is opened)

(Warning: Setting Priority to Realtime will cause system instability)
6.Profit
These setting should improve your gameplay

Hmmm.... Trying to find some usefull info out there (cause I've similar issues) but.. I'm on AMD architecture and Cant find much on the Net, just yet. :/

DX 12 is unoptimized and can accually cause worse performance on lower end cards that support it

lol do what I did just inject a wrapper and get it running in DX12...itll save ya a lot of these headaches and steps

By the way, I noticed with dx10 and 11 in this game bugs with shadows so I advise you to play according to the old days on the ninth version.

missing micro stutters after replacing my processor from i5 2500k to i3 10100f. The only bugs appeared due to high fps but this can all be limited through the nvidia panel

KILROY the microstutter is a problem with the game engine

Need better processor for play without micro stutters.
My I3 10100F works great with this game on ultra settings
