but there's a legit reason to use the original exe for X Legacy Collection 1 at least
as someone updated a guide which lets you use a Retranslation Mod for MegaMan X1 to X3
which cannot be applied to the Japanese exe as far as I know at the moment
its just something I noticed myself as I do like to have the 2 exes available and use the one that came with my installation as the one Steam opens for Achievement and time tracking
I changed some files according to how they are loaded on the global version myself, I was just mentioning that so if anyone its interested, that at least its possible to get back the Vocal intros back if using the global version of X Legacy Collection 1/2
Just as an example
the only video file modified for X5 its the x5op.wmv while the others keep the instrumental
launching Rockman X Annivesary Collection 2, it loads fine using the English version of the game
but it loads the other 2 when using the global version, x5op_english.wmv and x5op_RegWor.wmv being loaded instead when using either the English or Japanese versions in X Legacy Collection 2
this mod its still great btw
The guide very well specifies which games and which versions will have songs with Japanese vocals. The purpose of this guide is to transform the worldwide version into the Japanese version of the collection, to have access to songs with vocals even in the Music Player. If you just want the videos and some musics, you can download the file and make the modifications you want. It's not hard to figure it out.
so for those who decide to continue playing with the exe that came with the game
Which files should we need to replace to get the JP Intros (and uncensored one for X4)?
as I noticed, when lauching with the Rockman Anniversary Collection exe, that the Vocal Intros does play, though by playing the Japanese version of each game (launching it through the MMXLC exe, the instrumental ones are used instead in both US and Japanese versions of each game)
You could download and extract the file, search for the video and music files of MMX6 and replace (and rename it) in the game folder.
This seems to be a common problem with MMXLC2 on Steam Deck. Unfortunately I don't have a Steam Deck to investigate this for myself.
