Description

But thou must, dear Luminary!

Welcome to the Orchestral Overhaul Mod for Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age.

The purpose of this guide is to demonstrate the proper installation of this mod. Main goal of this mod is to provide the proper auditory experience that is deserving of this masterpiece of a game by applying all available orchestral variants of the songs present in the game, as composed by Koichi Sugiyama and performed by the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra.
All necessary steps to obtain musical bliss will be detailed below.

Hopefully it need not be said, but...
PLEASE, follow this guide thoroughly as to avoid compatiblity issues and so that your experience in using this mod is as frustration-free as possible.

We DO NOT condone or support piracy in any way, shape or form and we will NOT provide the raw music files for listening so if you want that you'll have to BUY the official Symphonic Suite albums.

This video below will give you a glimpse of what you can expect from our mod.

Installation

Now here come the steps on how to install the mod itself.

First, download our mod package from one of the links below which contain all the necessary files:

Mirror 1 (MEGA): https://pastebin.com/F241RDbA
Mirror 2 (GDrive): https://pastebin.com/kYVyu6i1
Mirror 3 (Torrent): https://nyaa.si/view/1089304
Mirror 4 (Magnet): https://pastebin.com/cTuwW0e1

If you're opting to use the Torrent or the Magnet you will need a BitTorrent protocol client, we recommend the use of qBitTorrent.

Furthermore if you're upgrading from older, V1 version of the mod we recommend that you delete the old files, verify integrity of game cache and do a clean install beforehand.
You can do do this by following these steps:
Steam\steamapps\common\DRAGON QUEST XI\Game\Binaries -> Delete the entire "Win64" Folder
D:\Games\Steam\steamapps\common\DRAGON QUEST XI\Game\Content -> Delete the entire "Sounds" folder.
Right click on the game in your Steam, go to "Properties", then "Local Files" tab, then do "Verify Integrity" and let it finish.
Once that's done, you can safely proceed to install V2 as instructed below.

After downloading the mod, extract the contents of the archive with the mod to a folder of your own choice, it's compressed in 7z format which can be unpacked using 7zip (or WinRAR, but that may have issues), we only recommend and support 7zip for best compatibility to avoid any potential issues.
If you downloaded it through Torrent/Magnet then the mod comes unpacked by default.

Next you'll need to open the folder with the game itself, naturally make sure it's installed beforehand.
You can do so by Right Clicking it in your Steam Library and then selecting Properties -> go into the Local Files tab -> and finally press the Browse Local Files button which will open the folder with the game.

Now all you will need to do is select all the files from the folder you unpacked OOM archive to earlier and copy them to the folder with the game, overwriting the files when asked if you want to do so - this is crucial.
In other words, you need to take the "Game" folder you unpacked and put it in your "Steam\steamapps\common\DRAGON QUEST XI" folder and overwrite when asked.

The mod is fully compatible with Special K and SweetFX/ReShade.

The only thing left for you at this point is to simply start the game and enjoy it with the Orchestral Overhaul Mod in all its restored glory!

CREATING AND INSTALLING CUSTOM MUSIC FILES:
Unfortunately, due to DQ11’s most recent October update, we have had to put custom music file injection on hold until we resolve all issues with the current mod. While we are STILL WORKING ON THIS, our priorities have shifted to ensure the highest stability of the base mod. We apologize for the inconvenience and ask that you please continue to wait patiently. Thank you.
Conclusion

This was an extremely time consuming and passion driven project for everyone involved with it.
Our team appreciates your love for the Dragon Quest games and all the words of support we received since the announcement of this mod. The team REFUSES and will NOT accept any form of donation for this project, everyone on the team loves these games as much as you and believe that this is the absolute best way to experience one of the finest entries in the series.
While assuming and hopeful that you already have, please support this series and the amazing music that has come about because of these games.
Go forth, bold Luminary!

Is there a way to get XI S orchestral songs in the original XI?

The files on both Google Drive and Mega are saying they're broken/missing, though some of the GDrive ones downloaded properly and seemed to be intact. Is there a way to fix this?

i feel like such an outcast, i like the normal soundtrack better than the orchestrated one.

Thanks a lot Canzah and team, the sound quality rocks. So glad I picked up the original version instead of the Switch port. Hats off to you guys for putting together this must-have mod

Wanted to play this one I didn't finish because I remember it looking so good and want to test again on my new hardware at 4K.
Glad to see the OG version looks even better than S and apparently this is the only mod needed, but about the music... Anywhere I can compare both versions?
Thx!

You're welcome :)

Played this last year for the first time and tolerated the music. Discovered this and added it for this playthrough. 5 minutes in and I am already much happier with the music. Thanks for the great work! Cannot wait to play through all this again with better music.

Yes, that's the correct path.
