Convert to Religion

Mô tả
Mod for Europa Universalis IV that lets you convert to a religion by holding its holy sites.

Now Beyond Typus 13.0.8 compatible, and updated to work on game version 1.30 and newer.

Convert to Religion is a mod that lets you convert to other religions depending on whether you own holy sites of that religion.

Features:
  • Adds CK2 Religions.
  • Added province triggered modifiers to provinces that are holy sites, giving a visual representation on the province view, so you can easily see if a province is a holy site.
  • Each holy site have the religious center bonus of -5% local missionary strength making it difficult to convert once the holy site is of its religion.
  • Added decisions to convert to each religion by holding holy sites.
  • Protestant and Reformed gets holy sites on Centers of Reformations, making each game unique.
  • Sikh gets 3 standard holy sites and 1 on the spawning Sikh provinces, which are semi-random each game. And now gets the last random holy site, when a nation has a Sikh province and converts to Sikh.
  • CB's to take Holy Sites.
  • (Work in Progress) Holy Site Bonusses mechanics, obtained via events.
  • Please refer to the changelog for a comprehensive list of added features and changes.

I sat out to make the mod because I wanted a way to convert to other religions, especially the CK2 religions, that weren't just cheating or as some of the other mods do it by a simple click on a decision without any thought or drawbacks and which could be enacted at any time and point in the game.

Therefore I made it so that there are some requirements and a potentially big stability hit.

As I wanted to use the CK2 religions and wanted some requirements I quickly found out about the holy sites, which just made sense to me, that you would need to hold and own these sites to convert to that religion.

The more I dived into modding the more I wanted to do, and I discovered I could add province modifiers as an ingame visual representation of the holy sites.

Protestant and Reformed are triggered once they spawn and should get holy sites on the provinces which spawns Centers of Reformations, thus making it random each game.

When Sikh spawns, it spawns on a province based on certain criteria, which makes it partially random, and then randomly chooses 2 neighbouring provinces which also gets Sikh.

For the Holy Sites themselves, I looked extensively at the CK2 Wiki and the CK2 province conversion table which comes with the EU4 converter for CK2. Also used the CK2 province files as they list several holy sites in them and then the game (CK2) itself also. Also some Google.

I will also like to thank and credit Refumee's Holy Sites mod, which I have also borrowed a few holy sites from, especially the eastern religions.

Makes decisions available to be able to convert to a religion if you own holy sites of that religion:

Country Decision

Potential Requirements

The country:
  • Owns at least 1 of the 5 holy site provinces OR own a province with the religion.
  • Is not the same religion as the one you are trying to convert to.
  • (In most cases) Is not The Papal State or the Holy Roman Empire.

Province Highlighting
  • All 5 Holy Site provinces is highlighted, making it easy to see and locate on the map.

Allow

The country:
  • Is not at war.
  • Is not a subject nation other than a tributary state.
  • Stability at least 1.
  • One of these:
    • Both of these:
      • If any of these countries or culture (varies depending on decision and religion), only need to own 3 Holy Sites.
      • Owns 3 core provinces which is a holy site and have built either a temple (Tax Building 1) or cathedral (Tax Building 2) on the provinces.
    • Owns all 5 core provinces which is a holy site and have built either a temple or cathedral on the provinces.

Effect

The country:
  • Religion changes.
  • Capital province changes religion.
  • Change religion on any holy site provinces that has either a temple (Tax Building 1) or cathedral (Tax Building 2).
  • If any of those countries or culture (varies depending on decision and religion), only need to own 3 Holy Sites.
    • Stability -2.
  • If not any of those countries or culture.
    • Stability -4.
  • Gets country modifier which makes it easier to convert and gives tolerance, for 10 years.

Compatibility:

Ironman NOT supported.

Beyond Typus 13.0.8 compatible.

Extended Timeline NOT supported since I use religions variable names from vanilla and CK2 converter files. Also ET changes the map and adds provinces, which can lead to holy sites not being in the place that it should.

I have made it so that if I update a Holy Site, it should automatically update to the new one the next time you load up your savegame.

As I have made the holy sites use Religious Center mechanics (-5% Local Missionary Strength), I have removed (most of) the modifiers that is Religious Centers, thus there are a few events and such, which use it as a check such as, NOT = { has_province_modifier = religious_center }. One of the places this could have an impact is around and during the reformation wars. I would be pleased if you notice any suspicious behaviour that is not how it should work in an unmodded game around the reformation wars and report in in the bugreport section. Thanks.

Future Plans:

Keep it updated with the new map changes and patches of newer game versions.

Add more holy sites and decisions to convert to religions based on feedback:
  • Totemist
  • Animist
  • Maybe some heresies
  • and more...

Add more and better flavor-text to each holy site. Feedback would be appreciated.

WORK IN PROGRESS:
Make a system with events to get Holy Site bonusses, which you can choose yourself, just like with the Coptic religion already ingame. (This may be impossible, but I have a few ideas on how one might do it.)

Unfortunately upon further review, I am NOT going to make it (or a new version) compatible with Extended Timeline as I have found that it would be an undertaking in likeness to making a whole new mod on a larger scale. So no ET at this point in time, but I have made this fully compatible with Beyond Typus, tested on the 1.30.6 (Rollback) Beta version of the game.

Sorry it took so long to update, but it's now updated to work with game version 1.30 and newer. And I also added Beyond Typus support, which seems to not have been updated to work with Leviathan yet.

It should be easily doable to make a compatible version for Beyond Typus if it doesn't add or do anything with religion. Only thing is it will be a little time consuming as I have to go over and update every holy site, as needed, by checking the province ids of BT, so that they are in the right place. But I will definitely look into it, althought with Dharma on our doorsteps, I might postpone a release until BT have updated and such, just so I don't have to do extra work, but that also depends on how much Dharma is going to affect things.

Same as Ilija, Beyond Typus compatible would be great.
May work for the most part now, but because of added provinces in BT there may be issues.

Love the concept! I'm guessing it's not compatible with mods that rework the map? If you have the time I'd love a beyond typus compatible version.

@TheDemonOrToad123 Hellenic is included. If you look at the added pictures, the one of Rome and the other which cover holy sites, where it is the first one. So if you don't have it, some kind of bug must have occurred.
