Overview

There are 44 total friends you can make while playing 1bitheart.

• There are 8 friends you are required to make during the main story: Mikado, Misane, Natsukage, Miumi, Akitaka, Haruya, Aira, and Potete.
  
• There are 32 friends you can make during free time periods at the end of each chapter.
  
• Finally, there are 4 friends you can only make after completing the happy ending of the game (where Nanshi has a minimum of 25 friends). These are Nomiya, Kirai, Kotora, and Tobari.

I would strongly recommend not making any friends besides the required 8 until you reach the final free time period at the end of chapter 4. This will make it easiest to get the different endings should you decide to do so, since endings are linked to the number of friends Nanashi has.

Making Friends

To become someone's friend, you must raise their friendship level to 100. This can be done by giving them gifts that they like and answering their side quest questions correctly. Each time you gain 25 friendship points with someone, you will unlock a new conversation and side-story with them. Completing the last side story and having raised their friendship to 100 will reward you their friendship item, their name on your friend list, and an achievement.

You can purchase gifts for friends by interacting with Nanashi's computer during free time, and once inside the virtual room, interacting with the pixel computer on the desk. Items range in price from 10 to 50 bits. You can earn bits by playing games on the console in the virtual room, or by interacting with the bottom right corner of the virtual room to instantly earn 999999 bits. Doing this will also earn the "Hack the BitWorld" achievement.

Using the guide
This guide is organized by the locations each character can be found. You can make friends in any order you choose, and you can check who you have befriended at any time by entering the virtual room and interacting with the book on the left of the computer, which pulls up Nanashi's friend list.

Notes

• Although some characters, such as Natsukage, are friends that you are required to make for the main story, you will still need to hang out with them during free time to earn their achievement.
  
• Although they are already on your friend list, both Misane and Mikado's side quests and achievements take place in the free roam period after the happy ending of the game.
  
• Below each character's liked items are listed, however it should be noted that Love Chocolate is loved by all characters, and worth +20 points.
