By ⛟ Roleplay Legend
This is guide will roughly cover on how to generally climb to diamond in joust, I’ve played smite for a pretty regretful amount of hours on Steam and Non-Steam Hirez launcher. In this guide I will cover basics of Joust’s matchmaking and how to control your ELO.

Matchmaking
Rule of the thumb in pretty much all ranked Smite is not to climb solo. If you want to climb till high ranks like Diamond and higher it would be very difficult. With immense amount of luck and courage some players did climb solo into masters or even grand masters. But right now with Hirez’s matchmaking system climbing is very frustrating and sometimes even annoying, I’m not going to get into details with that because I don’t want a guide to turn into a rant.

Anyway, if you want to climb, climb in party with people you know are good at their roles. How to find these people? It’s simple, just play the game and often you’re bound to meet a player that is a good tank, adc, or mage. But playjng solo in Smite is pretty much a gamble, you can get a player that is still in qualifiers into a high ranked game. You can get a troll or duo trolls that will just spam f6 and feed the entire match. So please, for your own nerves and health, do not attempt to climb solo.
Player Interaction
Toxicity in ranked games can be found in every corner and is holding great players back in low ranks. It’s a very common thing for a player to start “flaming” another player for whatever reason. In ranked you simply can not afford a distraction such as toxicity, don’t get aggravated by enemy team’s whispers or anything like that. Blocking feature in Smite is for a reason, use it as you please to eliminate those distractions and play with your full potential.
Finding your role
In joust there are three main roles that are very commonly played, with sometimes new meta strategies coming in like duo tanks, duo burst, and so forth. These roles are: Tank, Adc(attack damage carry) and Mage. Usually the team comp is made out of those roles and it can be hard to find the role you’re best at.

So in my opinion the best way in finding your role in ranked is just play the gods that comprehend to those roles. Whatever god you’re at best at would most likely be your called main, for example: if you’re doing so great as Ullr you’re probably into adc, if you’re doing so good as Cabracan you’re probably a support/tank. In joust players commonly play their main roles but sometimes you must choose a role that you’re not best at in order to win or someone just took your role. So here’s a list of gods that I recommend learning for each role.

- Hunters/Adc
Ullr - One of the best hunters in the game, gets banned very often. He’s an ability based hunter which is very easy to learn but hard to master.
AMC - Easilty roughly the highest burst hunter in Smite. He’s averagely tough to learn but once you master him you’ll have no problem carrying your team.
Hou Yi - A loss in the noob’s hands and a disaster for enemy’s rank in skilled hands. One of the most common hunters in Smite, has one of the best escapes in the game and one of the best burst abilities.

- Mage
He Bo - Perhaps has the rate to be the most banned god in Smite’s history. Many call him over powered or broken, and they’re right. He Bo has perhaps the most damaging abbility combo in the game, next to Loki. You’ll have a very small chance of playing him since he mostly gets banned instantly.
Janus - Another high burst mage, known mostly for his 1,2 combo. It can demolish any squishy god’s Hp in seconds. He’s pretty easy to learn and doesn’t get banned pretty much at all.
Poseidon - The game finisher, known for his ultimate combo. His ultimate’s damage is one of the highest damages of ults in the game.

- Tank/Support
Ares - Next to Cabracan and Hercules is one of the highest damaging tanks in the game. Has one of the best cooperative ults in the game, sometimes can be a game finisher if played correctly and timed right.
Hercules - The “can’t be killed” god. Has a self healing abbility that’s pisses off the most players and has a highest support burst combo.
Khepri - Maybe the best support in the game because of his ultimate which can save a player in their certainty of death.
General Tips
F7 - Do not surrender even if you think you’re bound to lose, when you’re getting destroyed at early game you never know if the enemy team is going to tilt at mid game

Patience - Once again, don’t lose hope if you’re losing at the start of the game, gods your team is playing might be late game gods and late game is yours.

Be positive - Rage in video-games is a common thing, but raging in smite may hold you back.
