Mass Effect 2 - Video Game Coaster/Dark Ride

I'm a big fan of the Mass Effect series, and I consider Mass Effect 2 to be one of the best games ever made. It had a huge impact on me, so this Planet Coaster ride is my love letter back to a truly magnificent game, featuring key scenes from the main storyline. I created an immersive custom soundtrack assembled from in-game dialogue and music that runs the length of the ride, just under 11 minutes long. It's technically a coaster (Typhoon Barghest), but it's really more of a dark ride with some coaster elements.

This was originally going to be for the Channel 5 Gaming Video Game contest, but unfortunately, I ran out of time. I still wanted to finish it, though - it is definitely my most ambitious project to date, and a lot of love and work went into it. I hope you enjoy it!

Owing to the length of the audio track, the part count (about 24.5k), and the use of screens, it may not sync properly on all computers. To see it the way I intended, I included a video of the entire attraction.

If you wish to download and ride it, here are some tips:

- Make sure to download all files and place them in the appropriate folders before opening the park file (link and instructions below)
- Turn the sound effects down to 10%, and the music up to 100%
- Ride in Test Mode, Seat View, in seat 2
- For the best experience, save just before riding, or disable auto-saves so they don't kick the audio out of sync
- Don't worry about time of day; there's a sequencer that handles lighting

All told, it took about 2 and a half months to create, and the ride covers the entire park file, with a total track length of 4299 meters. Obviously, it is not meant to be realistic. :) There are also some enormous builds in this creation, including the 240 meter diameter star chambers to make you feel like you're floating in space, a 160 meter long mass relay, and... well, a few surprises.

Place audio (.ogg) files in the folder Documents/Frontier Developments/Planet Coaster/UserMusic
Place graphics (.jpg) and videos (.webm) in the folder Documents/Frontier Developments/Planet Coaster/UserMedia

There are a lot of files for this creation, I know. To help keep things organized, every file is prefaced "masseffect2_", so you can easily find and delete them all from your Planet Coaster folders if you need to.

Once you're in game, make sure the file "MassEffect2_rideAudio.ogg" is showing as the ride audio in game.

The ride requires the following DLC: Spooky, Adventure, Studios, and Back to the Future. If you don't have the DLC, I believe you can still open the park file and ride the ride (since the Barghest is part of the base game), you just won't be able to edit those items the Save function (pretty sure that's how it works, but please correct me if I'm wrong!)
