You never know what quality of connection you'll get; just because some games aren't effected doesn't mean you shouldn't go into a game with someone you've never met giving the game the best chance to run optimally.
I feel the only thing the intro does is determine the connection quality and set an input delay to keep the game smooth.
I play regularly with a friend online and we ALWAYS skip intros and the game runs fine. then there are guys online with whom you can watch intros all day and it will lag.
I'm tired of hearing "don't skip intros!"
As far as wifi and such my advice is play the lag. And this is cause you cant force someone to play wired and what not. Im not saying stick out in a horrible laggy match but instead if you know there is some delay occuring then do some safe combos. Dont worry about jump cancels or other high skill moves because the more percice they have to be, the more likely they will wiff. Save that for your local FGC.
