The Gear to Hunt
To hunt Geese you will most likely need a shotgun of any type.

Make sure to use either Buckshot or Birdshot. If you are after integrity, you might want to farm for Shotgun points if you don't already have Birdshot already. Hunting geese is not worth it if you don't have Birdshot. If you don't have Shotgun points, take the 12ga with Buckshot and kill Roe Deer on Hirschfelden. They go down extremely easy even with a Flesh Wound and give full integrity with one shot, leading to around 50 Shotgun points per roe deer. I was able to farm for about 2 days and already had Birdshot and the 12ga Pump. If you have Shotgun perks, i would recommend using the tracer shot to see how far a shotgun shoots to get the idea of the range of the shotgun. Or you could go to the Shooting range and fire off a few rounds there. You will also need the Goose-Caller, it is avalible for 6000$ in the caller section.

The Location to Hunt
To hunt geese choose any open field in the map, whether it be the hayfields or the cornfields, as they have excellent views at the sky. In my opinion, the best places to hunt geese are in the Cornfields, near the Schonfeldt outpost. There is a huge series of fields right about 300m from the outpost. Set up camp there and you'll sure see some in no time.

HUNTING WITHOUT DLC:

The Geese will fly their rounds around the map. They will more likely fly above fields and open areas. Set up camp and keep calling, they may not come in right away, sometimes it might take 20 seconds, sometimes it'll take 20 minutes. Listen for signs of geese, they are very loud. Once you see or hear a flock, repeatedly call until they start to break. If the geese are interested in landing, they will break and land in open areas and fields. When a flock is flying ahead, make sure you are out of sight completely, whether it be in a ground blind or hiding in the bushes. Once they land, you have the chance to get the shot at a goose flock that is resting on the ground. Once you shoot one, they will spook and all take off into the air, this is a good chance to pick a few off with your shotgun. Once in the air, that spooked flock will not return, so call another flock in. Repeat this process until there are no flocks left, then move to another field and repeat.

How to Aim with the shotgun:

HUNTING WITH DLC:

It is strongly recommended that you take the .22LR WITH the 20GA Shotgun, as a dual combo. This combo works so well, I have taken down entire flocks with it. Use the .22 on Geese that are at a longer range or escaping, and the 20G for geese that fly overhead. If you are going to use the .22, you do not need to hide in a ground blind close to the decoys, just hide out of sight nearby your decoys. Be careful when hiding, however, geese have a very good eyesight and can spot you even in hiding, so hide completely out of sight inside a bush or tree, or just go prone in taller grass. Do the same as without DLC to lure, sit and wait, and call. Repeat same steps again.

Can they spot you in Blinds or realise the decoys are fake? So far, two or three land nearby, waddle to the decoys and then they suddenly fly off. We stay in blinds and don’t move

@{SOAA}BATMAN!! That sounds like a really weird bug I have never seen before. Possible fixes that I can think of in this moment might be;

- You are not calling enough (Spam that caller as soon as theres a flock)
- You are not waiting long enough. (They are sometimes flying in weird circles to land so just give them time)
- Multiplayer F's things up (again)
- I suppose you are in the blinds so they cant see you? In the geese blind you are also not allowed to aim down sights with guns to look at them etc. Just chill until they are really close/landed and then pop out the blind

Hope this helps, happy hunting

I have the weirdest glitch that I cannot fix for the life of me. I place 20 geese lures down, I get into the blinds, the BREAKING FORMATION come by, I use the caller, and they never land. I have hunted about 25-30 flocks and not a single one has attempted to land. I can shoot them out of the sky, but they dont land. I am in open fields, where there is PLENTY of room to land so its not an issue of no room. I am so confused. PLEASE HELP. This issue occurs for me and my friends idk what we are doing wrong.

I don't know if it's just for me, but after more than 2 hours of waiting, not a single goose appeared.

Can you hunt geese near water? I think I have seen some around before
zitro  [author] 22 May, 2021 @ 10:17am
@kazzar you will need to place decoys on the right underground tho. Like Goose decoys only work on hay fields, duck only on water etc. Mabe thats the problem. Otherwise its probably just a bug and you should try placing it on another field
kazzar 22 May, 2021 @ 8:54am
@zitro thats wierd cause i hadn't placed anything when i tried
zitro  [author] 22 May, 2021 @ 8:46am
@kazzar oh that is a bug! It means you have placed too many already. Usually you see it with tents.
