--- Important ---
This is not a mod or a hack, simply a roundabout method of obtaining a beta version of the game and playing Workshop maps with Moonwalking.
Getting Beta r45
Right click on your Steam desktop shortcut, click properties and add -console after Steam target address.

If you dont have a steam shortcut on the desktop, you can find it through the start menu. Then right click and select 'Open File Location'

Now, restart steam and find the 'console' tab

Finally, run the following command to download Beta r45:
download_depot 207140 207141 7375765298813199584
Go to your steam downloads and wait for the game to download. It wont actually appear as a download, but you can check its progress through the 'current' and 'total' amounts. Once the game has finished downloading ('current' has gone to 0 bytes/s and 'total' is approx 440Mb), the game can be found under:
[your steam installation folder]\steamapps\content\app_207140\depot_207141
Launch Speedrunners through the .exe in this folder. Launching Speedrunners through steam will launch the latest version correctly.
Getting Maps Into r45
If you try to load any workshop or local maps, either through the multiplayer menu, the solo run menu or the map editor, the game will almost certainly crash. The solution is to use the latest version to create copies of the map that can be read by Beta r45.

Open the latest version of the game through Steam and subscribe to any maps you want to play in Beta r45. Now, go into the map editor and open a subscribed map. Create a local copy of the map, open the local copy, then publish it to the Steam Workshop. Repeat for all the maps you want to play.

Now, in Beta r45 again, click play, go into a quick match then leave. This allows the game to see your Published maps (because it connects to the workshop i guess)

Now go to 'Workshop' on the main menu. Find the map you want to play that has the [PUBLISHED] tag and select it then click 'Open'.

The graphics on the maps are sometimes bugged and placed on the wrong layers. This is just a graphical glitch that can be corrected by right clicking each and changing the layer to something other than 'Object Layer' (Background Layer is preferable).

Maps i have successfully loaded into Beta r45:
  • Oceanslide (minor graphical bugs)
  • Pitfall
  • Oasis Abyss
  • Oasis
  • Snowed In (Old Version)
  • Safari Park
  • Genetics

Note: quick matches and ranked matches are bugged and maps cant be voted or will crash. However, as long as you and a friend are using the same version, custom games work fine using maps created with these steps

WraithBreakout make sure its a desktop shortcut , not the regular steam exe. To make a shortcut, right clikc your steam exe and choose "send to" -> "Desktop (Shortcut", then use the exe shortcut on your desktop. ^-^
