This is a re-ballance of an original mod by SEmodder4, done with their permission ( see comment feed on the original mod May 6, 2018 )

Original mod is here.

I have long wondered why using a jump drive 1/18th the size of the original drive would be able to pull the same weight the same distance without massive increases in components due to complexity.

The solution, now all the drives have a range roughly proportional to its size in comparison to the full size vanilla drive.

So

1x1x1 max range = 100 km
2x2x1 max range = 280 km
3x2x1 max range = 480 km
3x3x2 max range - 1250 km ( original size drive )

I have not altered power usage, components or the internal game workings ( names etc ) so this will straight across replace the original mod without breaking your blueprint, tho the name you see on the G menu will state the drives range now.

ENJOY!

Just a thought, shouldn't the 2x2x1 have more than 4x (even if just slightly) range than the 1x1x1? Because otherwise, why wouldn't you just use 4x 1x1x1s and have a total range of 400km? - Last I remember, range for jump drives was additive - maybe this is no longer the case?

k thanks for the info I'll keep that in mind for my next build

Its based on Weight, as all the jump drives are ( even Keens vanilla drives ) if your ships weight is heavier than optimal for the drive, the range reduces....

I love the little changes to the jump drive...but I like to give a heads up on something. I built the 280km jump drive for my new small block ship but when I go into control panel of the ship and click the jump drive the distance slide bar says 100% 139km is this the right jump distance for a small block ship or should it be 280km like the jump drive says....just wondering.

I reproduced your issue, Jump option doesnt appear when you are attempting to put JUMP onto your bar via a group, but from individual drive its fine. This is a Keen-ism.
Skallabjorn  [Autor] 24. Mai 2018 um 8:57
there is a jump option, i can not reproduce your issue
Skyler 24. Mai 2018 um 4:44
There's no "Jump" option for these. Could you fix that?

That's all I'm asking. If it's ridiculously difficult that's fine, the mod is already an Improvement over the vanilla jump drive.
Skallabjorn  [Autor] 20. Mai 2018 um 12:15
I will think about it, there is a ships max weight balance in the equation ( its a function line in the mod ) already

I'm saying the 3x3x2 small grid jump drive should travel less than the 1x1x1 large grid jump drive.
For instance:
Large Grid: 3x3x2 = 1250km, 3x2x1= 480km, 2x2x1= 280km, 1x1x1= 100km
Small Grid: 3x3x2= 80km, 3x2x1= 50km, 2x2x1=30km, 1x1x1=10km
