Are you tired of fighting the same 8 bosses over and over again?

If so, then this is the mod for you!

Description
I've reworked all 8 of the base bosses found in the Cove, Ruins, Warrens & Weald. These aren't simple numerical adjustments to make the fights harder/longer, instead, I've expanded upon the main gimmicks of each boss creating new skills and mechanics for the bosses to use. In some cases I've completely reworked the fight from ground up, while still keeping the core gimmick of the boss intact.

The fights are going to be slightly harder, as the bosses have less weaknesses and have more ways to deal with the heroes. To compensate for the increase in difficulty, the rewards for killing bosses have also been changed. Now they drop 1/3/5 Rubies as well as a random trinket, which is generally going to be of a high rarity. Apprentice and Veteran bosses have new unique Trophy trinkets that they drop as well.

I've made some changes to the fights since the individual mods, which are only present in this mod. The balance of each fight has been adjusted and Veteran/Champion versions of the bosses have gained new features, so that the fight won't be the exact same all 3 times.

The Changes
I'll go over very briefly the major changes I've made to each boss fight, trying not to spoil much. However, if you'd like to see all of the changes I've made in detail, check this google doc[docs.google.com] I wrote.

Keep in mind that these are only the major changes I made. There's plenty more left for you to discover yourself!

Necromancer
He's back!
  • Necromancer now has 3 phases, which change based on his HP
  • Instead of summoning his skeletons individually, he will now summon a set of predetermined skeletons when his phase changes
  • He directs the summoned skeletons' attacks with marks and resurrects them, until the final phase in which he tries his best to stay alive or take you down with him

Prophet
Prophet only gained a few additions since I really enjoyed the vanilla fight as is.
  • He will gain a small amount of prot and dodge when hit that only lasts until his next turn to reflect his resilience
  • You'll lose stun & blight resistances from a few different sources during the fight
  • He will prophecise your End, which will come true if you don't kill him quick enough
  • A few new skills have been added, but they are only used under certain specific conditions

Hag
  • Season to Perfection now marks the hero it targets and on her next action she will cook that hero
  • Not only does she taste the Stew occasionally, she also force feeds it to your heroes causing horror and blight
  • Cauldron will topple at the end of each round when empty

Brigand Pounder
Pounder summons different fusemen with different qualities to them e.g. more speed or stealth.
Each fuseman uses the cannon in a different way, resulting in different effects and damage on the cannon shot.

The Swine King
  • Wilbur has new tactics up his sleeve and can command the Swine King with new mark skills
  • Wilbur's screech after the Swine King is below 50% HP will make your heroes nervous, causing shuffling and stress over time
  • Swine King will become enraged below 25% HP even while Wilbur is alive, recklessly attacking your heroes and stunning Wilbur
  • Chain stunning has been removed from both the Swine King and Wilbur, by decreasing their stun chances each time they use their stunning moves

Formless Flesh
  • Each of Flesh's different forms has gained multiple new skills to use
  • Flesh's hide reforms as you strike it, causing it to lose protection and gain a buff
  • Different ranks of Flesh start with different buffs
  • All parts (except the Heart) have +20% Bleed/Blight Resistance

Siren
  • The effects of Siren's skills change based on the light level (varying debuffs/dots/buffs)
  • Siren Song becomes more effective each time it's used
  • Beguiling Song, one of her new skills, will either stun the target or make them more susceptible to her other songs depending on the light level
  • Siren will lure someone to guard her when her HP gets low

Drowned Crew
  • Drowned Anchor no longer chains and immobilizes your heroes, he now stuns and pushes them and causes all of your heroes to have 4 Horror on them while he's alive!
  • The three Crew members each take their turns in order
  • Gaffer Hook does high damage attacks with his hook, the Captain debuffs & stresses heroes with his calls for mutiny and the Drunkard inflicts a random set of debuffs with it's Drink with the Dead skill
  • Crew's HP is doubled, but he will no longer gain 50% prot when someone is anchored. Instead, he will take 33% more damage
  • Killing the Drowned Anchor will permanently debuff the Crew with -25% Healing Received and heal 4 stress for all heroes

Trinkets
Each boss now has 2 bonus trophy trinkets they drop. A full list of all the trinkets can be found here[docs.google.com].

One of the trinkets:

Crew's Boarding Hook
+15% Chance to Bleed
On Hit: 100% Chance 2/2 Bleed
On Hit: 25% Chance 1/6 Horror

Compatibility
This mod is compatible with most other mods out there that you can think of. All class mods, trinket mods etc. work fine with this mod.

Load above the Succubus class mod (made by Von Krolock, Carnifex and Sasiji).

The only thing you need to watch out for when using this mod are other mods which edit the different boss' files (e.g. mods that change boss loot for example the Hell). Loading this mod above those mods will ensure that all the fights work properly, however, you will not geet their modified loot or anything else those mods might change about the boss.

Sounds should be working again!

Localization
The default language for the mod is English

Currently supported languages:

Thank you for checking the mod out!
Hopefully you'll find the changes I've made refreshing and the fights more enjoyable.

Any idea why bring out your dead causes crahses in my modded campaign?

Of course! Even if you don't fix it, it's still infinitely better than it crashing my game so I'll take my victories where I can get them.

Thanks!

The Sunken Crew heal not working is an oversight from when I reworked it to not include the highly unstable anchor grab mechanic. I might fix it if I have the time and feel inspired, but I'm not really working on dd mods anymore.

I know summons are a bit rough especially when interacting with other mods, but I love the idea too much to retcon it. Plus it's hard to come up with class independant trinkets that are both unique and balanced (at least a little) and I prefer wacky ideas over simple stat trinkets.

@Chogex I absolutely LOVE this mod, it brings so many aspects to the vanilla bosses that makes them a genuine threat again (Hag and Necromancer for instance still give horror). Do you think it'd be possible to rework Necromancer's scroll to something that'd be less...prone to break due to it summoning a minion?

I do also notice that the Sunken Crew seems to not be healing properly which reduces the need to kill the anchorman, idk what's going on with that.

The mods are incompatible.

His reworks are much more subtle and focused mainly on keeping the fights similar to vanilla, but with adjusted difficulty (harder). While mine are more chaotic and try to revamp the fights completely in most cases, adding entire new moves, buffs and phases, also with the intention of making things more difficult.

If you want something where you'll want to come up with new strategies around fights you haven't seen before, I recommend this one and if you want something where you can still use the tried and true boss strats and test their limits, go for Welli's.

Oh and I add new trophy trinkets for app/vet boss variants, which people seem to either love or hate, so that's also something to keep in mind.

Anyone who has used this know how it compares to McSkellington's Hardcore Vanilla Bosses? I assume they are not compatible, given the description.

It's really cool and designed mod. But my fps is died on Brigand Pounder. So unfortunately I can't play with it

I managed to get the cure as loot from a regular room fight.
Also im stuck on the sunken crew, for some reason, it's their turn but they're not performing a action
