This is the either sad or practical (or anarchy) ending where you ditch Al the robot behind leaving him to die on the space station. Nina blasts the escape pod open and Al isn't present in the beach. Even more sad is back at the hub/downtown/waiting room/lobby where Al is no longer present on the bottom floor (because you let him die). Al will still be present in the tutorial as a training boss, after each level boss next to their power and the two scientists, and in the cage still during the escape at the end of a run though.

I'm not sure how you get Al back. At first, I thought even if you rescue him in a newer run, Al will never appear in the escape pod, beach, or lobby as an Undertale style save file reminder of your deeds, as this happened to me, but after an extreme run (no skulls) I rescued Al and got him in the cutscene, credits, as well as suddenly back in the lobby. Oh well.

You also get an achievement so therefore it must be worth it.
