Tycoon housing layouts

A step by step walkthrough to build your own Tycoon megacity.
For this guide, I'll be using a layout from the official Anno 2070 Wiki website, made by Vandari.
This guide will give you a step by step building plan, including schematic layouts and all the required building materials for each step in the process of building a large Tycoon city with close to 400 residences and more than 8000 inhabitants!

Step 1: where do I build that thing?
For this layout, we will need an empty box of about 84x76 tiles. So your first priority is to search for an island that holds such a large area.
You can 'measure' the amount of free space with roads. An example: if I place a road across some free space, it will show you the amount of credits spent on this road. Lets say the road has cost you 145 credits. A single piece of road costs 5 credits. This means that the road of 145 credits is actually 29 tiles long (145 / 5 = 29).
By using this technique, you can measure the amount of space you have and decide if you have enough space to build this layout.
Step 2: it all starts here...
After you have found the right spot to build your megacity, start off by building your first Tycoon city centre and Tycoon residences.

In this step you will build:
- 60 Tycoon worker barracks.
- 1 Tycoon city center.

Required building materials:
- 125 ton building modules.
- 3 ton tools.
- 300 credits (ex. roads).

Yellow: city center


The build:
Start off by building the rectangular in the centre of the layout: this should leave you a 13x18 box which will be used for the Corporate Headquarters later on. For now, just build a City center in this free lot and connect it with the rectangular road. After you've done that, start building the Tycoon worker barracks as shown on the image.

When you have finished building this layout, move to step three.
Step 3: gambling addictions may occur
After completing step two, we move on to step three: expanding the number of residences and building some Casinos to satisfy the need for activity for your inhabitants.

In this step you will build:
- 40 Tycoon worker barracks.
- 4 Tycoon city centers.
- 2 Casinos.

Required building materials:
- 108 ton building modules.
- 20 ton tools.
- 1800 credits (ex. roads).

Green: residences
Yellow: city center
Orange: casino


The build:
Extent your layout horizontally with a row containing some residences and a Casino on each side of the previous layout. After that, build 4 City center as shown in the layout. When these are built, create both rows on the left and the right side of the layout: the empty spaces in these rows will be used later on.

When you have finished building this layout, move to step four.
Step 4: more residences are needed
After completing step three, we move on to step four: expanding the city with more residences and some more Casinos.

In this step you will build:
- 76 Tycoon worker barracks.
- 2 Casinos.

Required building materials:
- 160 ton building modules.
- 8 ton tools.
- 600 credits (ex. roads).
- Additional tools for upgrading your worker barracks to employee houses (1 ton tools per barracks).

Green: residences
Yellow: city center
Orange: casino


The build:
This step is quite hard to build due to all the empty areas that have to be created for other building that have to be unlocked first. I would recommend starting with the row of houses in the upper left corner and then build the rest of the layout clockwise.

When you have finished building this layout, move to step five.
Step 5: time to tell the truth
After completing step four, we move on to step five: building the last batch of residences as well as the Ministery of truth.

In this step you will build:
- 140 Tycoon worker barracks.
- 4 Ministery of truth.

Required building materials:
- 320 ton building modules.
- 48 ton tools.
- 80 ton concrete.
- 3200 credits (ex. roads).
- Additional tools for upgrading your worker barracks to employee houses (1 ton tools per barracks).
- Additional tools, building modules and wood for upgrading your employee houses to engineer apartments (2 ton tools, 2 ton building modules and 3 ton concrete per house).

Green: residences
Yellow: city center
Orange: casino
Purple: ministery of truth


The build:
Pretty straightforward: just add the four rows of residences and place the Ministery of truth buildings as shown in the layout.

When you have finished building this layout, move to step six.
Step 6: filling up those empty areas
After completing step five, we move on to step six: building some much needed service buildings as well as the Financial center.

In this step you will build:
- 4 Financial centers.
- 8 Fire stations.
- 8 Hospitals.
- 8 Police stations.

Required building materials:
- 240 ton building modules.
- 224 ton tools.
- 120 ton concrete.
- 60 ton steel.
- 19200 credits (ex. roads).
- Additional tools for upgrading your worker barracks to employee houses (1 ton tools per barracks).
- Additional tools, building modules and concrete for upgrading your employee houses to engineer apartments (2 ton tools, 2 ton building modules and 3 concrete wood per house).
- Additional tools, building modules, concrete and steel for upgrading your engineer apartments to executive mansions (1 ton tools, 3 ton building modules, 3 ton concrete and 4 ton steel per apartment).

Yellow: city center
Orange: casino

Lime green: financial center
Red: fire station
Blue: hospital
Brown: police station


The build:
Getting the building materials probably takes longer than actually building these buildings. Just place all the buildings according to the layout.

When you have finished building this layout, move to step seven: building the Corporate HQ.
Step 7: HQ establishment
After completing step six, we move on to step seven: building the Corporate headquarters.

In this step you will build:
- The Corporate headquarters.

Required building materials:

Tier one (fundation):
- 80 ton building modules.
- 50 ton tools.
- 25 ton concrete.
- 25 ton steel.
- 50000 credits.

Tier two:
- 300 ton tools.
- 160 ton building modules.

Tier three:
- 300 ton tools.
- 160 ton concrete.

Tier four:
- 300 ton tools.
- 160 ton steel.

Yellow: city center
Orange: casino
Purple: ministery of truth
Lime green: financial center
Red: fire station
Blue: hospital
Brown: police station
Olive green: corporate headquarters


The build:
Simply remove the City center and the roads in the middle of the layout and start building the Headquarters. To build the Leisure center, goods need to be transported from a Warehouse to the building site, therefore you need to build a Warehouse on the edge of the layout.

When you have finished building the Leisure center, move to the final step: step eight.
Step 8: don't need this, don't need that...
After completing step seven, we move on to the final step: removing buildings which are no longer needed and adding some more residences. Now that the Corporate headquarters has been fully built, we can remove the City centers, the Casinos, the Financial centers and (optionally) the Ministery of truth buildings.

In this step you will build:
- 88 Tycoon worker barracks.

Required building materials:
- 176 ton building modules.
- Additional tools for upgrading your worker barracks to employee houses (1 ton tools per barracks).
- Additional tools, building modules and concrete for upgrading your employee houses to engineer apartments (2 ton tools, 2 ton building modules and 3 ton concrete per house).
- Additional tools, building modules, concrete and steel for upgrading your engineer apartments to executive mansions (1 ton tools, 3 ton building modules, 3 ton concrete and 4 ton steel per apartment).

Green: residences
Purple: ministery of truth
Red: fire station
Blue: hospital
Brown: police station
Olive green: corporate headquarters


The build:
Remove the City centers, the Casinos, the Financial centers and (optionally) the Ministery of truth buildings. After you have do that, (re)build the empty spaces with additional residences just like the image.

Congratulations! You have built your very own Tycoon megacity :)
What have we been building?
By following the eight steps to build your own Tycoon megacity, you now have:

- A large city, built to impress friends and enemies.
- At least 404 residences for your inhabitants.
- At least 8578 inhabitants, divided into: 648 Tycoon workers, 1950 Tycoon employees, 2900 Tycoon engineers and 3080 Tycoon executives.
- Service coverage (Fire station, Hospital, Police station) all at 100%.

In the end, your Tycoon mega city will look something like this:

The total costs
To build this Tycoon megacity, you will have to meet these requirements:

Building materials (ex. building materials for upgrades and roads):
- 1369 ton building modules.
- 1243 ton tools.
- 385 ton concrete.
- 245 ton steel.
- 74200 credits.

Total maintenance costs (default settings): 2120
Total energy usage (default settings): 520
Total negative influence on ecobalance (default settings): -180

Besides these requirements, you will also need to build almost all the other buildings that will be unlocked during your game. Futhermore, patience is required aswell :P.
How to keep things running
To keep all your inhabitants happy, you will need some production plants to produce various goods like Convience food, Luxury meals, Champagne, etc. With a little help from a calculator, I calculated how much factories/farms you will need to keep this city running. All plants are calculated on default (=100%) productivity.

The following buildings are needed:
  • 17 Fisheries
  • 22 Distilleries
  • 12 Food supply factories, which require:
    • 12 Flavor labs
    • 23 Meat factories
  • 8 Plastics factories, which require:
    • 8 Oil refineries
    • 24 Oil drillers (or 8 Oil rigs)
  • 7 Gourmet factories, which require:
    • 4 Lobster farms
    • 13 Truffle farms
  • 6 Champagne cellars, which require:
    • 11 Vineyards
    • 6 Sugar beet plantations
  • 5 Jewelry manufacturers, which require:
    • 5 Diamond harvesting stations
    • 5 Gold smelteries, which require:
      • 5 Gold refineries
      • 5 Rotary escavators (or 3 Coal mines)
  • 6 Healthcare offices, which require:
    • 9 Rare-earth borers, which require:
      • 5 Manganese escavation robots
    • 6 Chemical plants, which require:
      • 17 Fat factories
      • 6 Aqua farms
FAQ's
'Why haven't you removed the Ministry of truth buildings?'
Personally, I prefer to keep those buildings to broadcast the different shows to influence the inhabitants (for example: more tax incomes, more inhabitants or less consumption of goods). If you think you don't need them, just remove them and fill the empty areas with four houses.

'How do I produce all those huge amounts of goods needed for the build of this city?'
That's pretty simple: just build enough factories/farms so you always will have enough goods. When you have little space for all your buildings and therefore you are looking to build your buildings as space-efficient as possible, you might want to take a look at my other guides for all sorts of production layouts (yes, this is shameless self-promotion).

'Those 1000+ tons of building modules and tools... you made a typo there right?'

False. There are island big enough to house this layout. You have to find that specific island :3.

Howmst the hell has anyone found an island with a 84x76 area, thats fucking massive. I have never found an island that large.

really good and detailed, and easy to understand guide. maybe you could add the number of squares in one of each/ or one of the building types., I made the mistake of assuming the tycoon and eco layout was the same, then found out the central building did not fit.. doh !!!

I think i will prefer ministry of truth at their place, coz u can get tax income and living space. If u have 400 tycoon,ecos, and tech, u can gain + income with u dont need anyway :steamhappy:
But 400 houses each faction is hard, especially tech
