They say that you should strike while the iron is hot. While it's no massive smelting plant by any means, it's still suitable for many local factories to use to bend metals around under high heat. They could also fool local hipsters into thinking they're living next door to a grain elevator of some sort in their lofts above the poor folk in that industrial district, that is, until the smell of molten metal and sulfur starts kicking in...
