I think that the font (Georgia) is too difficult to read at small sizes, specially on screens with lower DPI (my case, laptop, 16-inch 1080p screen).

While trying to find a way to change the interface font, I've found a solution!!! I'll show you how to change it.


Access the game folder
(should be located in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Age2HD).


Open the folder Resources and click on the language which corresponds the one you use in game (in my case, English - en).

Access the folders strings then key-value.

BACKUP THE FILE! BACKUP THE FILE! BACKUP THE FILE! And put it in some other folder.


Better safe than sorry!

Open the file key-value-strings-utf8.txt. Then, just manually replace the names to the font you want to use.
Don't try to replace with Find and Replace, because I did it and the game had stopped working!
But I've got a backup!



As you can see, I've put Segoe UI because this font is well displayed even in tiny sizes. But you can put anything you'd like. Just remember to type the font name correctly!
Scroll down a little bit, until there's nothing more to replace.

Open the game and test the interface!





WARNING: Changing the interface font to a non-interface friendly font (fonts that look weird in small sizes), or some font that doesn't belong natively to Windows CAN MAKE YOUR GAMING PERFORMANCE TERRIBLE. I guess the game, or even Windows can't render these fonts properly on the screen. I noticed some FPS drops when using some fonts that I've downloaded. No problems with native interface-friendly fonts like Arial, Verdana and Segoe UI.
