➤Hunting is one of the more complex side activities available in Far Cry 5.
➤You can do that during some of the mission but you can also go hunting while you are exploring the world.
➤However, hunting itself isn't as important as it was in the previous instalments in Far Cry series. ➤Below you can find the most important information about hunting in Far Cry 5.

Note - In Far Cry 5, fishing is a completely separate activity.

There are 28 Animals in Far Cry 5. This guide shows you all Animal Locations, Fish Locations, Hunting Spots, and Hard Fishing Spot. You’ll need those to complete all Hunting Challenges and to earn the trophy / achievement “Been There, Done That”.

The animals are divided in two categories: 16 Land Animals and 12 Fishes. You can keep track of them in the challenge tab. To earn the trophy “Been There, Done That” you must complete all those challenges and some of them require you to catch multiple animals of a kind. They can all be farmed by traveling to the nearest fast-travel point and returning to the hunting spot. Then new animals will spawn.

➀ What To Know When Hunting?
Here you can find the most important information about hunting:

You don't have to hunt to get crafting resources for upgrading your inventory. There are other ways of increasing the size of your inventory - more information can be found on How to increase inventory? chapter (the FAQ section).

Hunting has two goals. Killing various animal species allows you to complete challenges connected to hunting which in turn gives you perk points. Thanks to that you can unlock new abilities faster. The second goal is to sell skins of dead animals to trades.

Not all animals are connected to the aforementioned challenges that can reward you with perk points. You can ignore certain species (e.g. ducks and partridges) or you can hunt them if you want to get more trophies.

You don't have to plan your hunts. You can come across an animal or be attacked by it while you are doing other activities (e.g. in a middle of a mission or while you are on your way to a location). When that happens, you can either run or accept a challenge.

Spend 6 perk points on King of the Jungle skill if you are tired of being attacked by animals. This perk makes encounters with animals less problematic (lesser risk of being detected by an animal, reduced damage).
➁ Where Can I Hunt Wild Animals?

Find a hunting spot before you start hunting. Certain groups of animals (e.g. turkeys) can be found in random locations but the majority of the animals can be found only in specific areas.

How to find them?

Pay attention to road signs. They can have information about hunting spots.

Find maps. They can be found on tables in places where your allies are. These maps reveal nearby attractions.

Explore the world. You can come across a hunting spot.

Use a bait. This is an alternate way of luring a predator, e.g. a cougar, a bear or a wolf. Select a bait from your inventory and place it somewhere on the ground. Soon, a predator should appear. Use a bait near locations occupied by enemies - a lured animal will "help" you kill cultists.

Locations of animals are added automatically and permanently to your world map (the picture above shows an example). However, you must remember that animals won't always appear in the exact place where a marker is on the map. Reach that location and examine area near a hunting tower within a 100-200-meter radius.
➂ How To Prepare Yourself For A Hunt?
Remember about these things before you go hunting:

Get a good sniper rifle. It should deal the maximum, 10, damage and be equipped with a good scope. A high-quality sniper rifle can kill weaker animals with one headshot. Bigger animals may require more shots. Also, you should think about taking a shotgun or a machine gun if you can carry two main weapons - in case a dangerous predator got too close to you.

Choose Boomer as your companion (specialist). The dog can find wild animals for you. Choose others only when you like to use binoculars or you have 2 specialist slots. Here, the best choice is to take Peaches or Grace Armstrong (the sniper).

You can also help yourself with drugs, especially the Ultimate Hunter that has a greater efficiency in marking animals than Boomer.

Important note - Don't kill animals by using vehicles, rockets, grenade launchers or explosives because you won't get valuable trophies. You can get even better trophies if you kill an animal with a bow or a melee weapon (e.g. more skins).
➃ Selling Hunting Trophies

Approach a killed animal and hold the interaction button to get a trophy (usually a skin). All trophies can be sold. You won't lose anything because this is their only purpose in the game. Visit any of the traders and select the option to sell useless loot. Depending on quantity and quality of trophies you can get from several dozens to a few thousands of dollars.
➄ Before You Begin

➤Unlock the dog called “Boomer” from John’s region. He’s a story-related unlock. The dog marks all nearby animals, which makes hunting a lot easier. Always have the dog with you on every hunt.

➤You should do the trophy “Hope County Master Angler” first. It requires you to catch all fish anyway, and you actually need to beat each region’s fishing-records for it. All the fishing spots in this guide are the “Hard” versions which you need specifically to unlock the 4th Fishing Rod.

➤If you can’t find an animal at the designated hunting spot just walk around with Boomer a little bit. The animals don’t spawn right on the spot. Rather, the hunting spots mark a possible spawn area.

➤The animals usually spawn in a 200-meter radius around the hunting spot. If you can’t find anything at all, travel to the nearest fast-travel point (ideally with the airdrop perk so you can fly back to the hunting spot in a few seconds). Some animals are rare spawns (such as hares) so be patient and just fast travel to the spot a few times until the animal spawns.
➅ All Animal Location
➤This list follows the order of the in-game challenge list.
➤Use the “Airdrop” perk to fly to any of these places from the nearest fast travel point.
