Intro
Hi and thank you for viewing my guide, this guide is entirely made to give you extra information about the monsters in the game. This does not feature the Spider or the Butcher.

Always try avoiding the monsters as they make sound and you dont want to get caught by other hunters. Keep in mind that the monsters do give Experience for your bloodline and character.

I hope this guide will help you in your future hunts and happy hunting!

This guide is all based on my ingame experience
Grunts
the "grunt" also know as "zombie" is more of a filler mob.
They are easy to avoid but there are many of them making it nessecary to kill them at times.
This can be done by:
- A simple headshot
- A heavy melee attack with a knife, hammer or axe
- 2 heavy melee attacks with your regular rifle

A nice sneak attack from behind is always a good idea. Charging them up front is doable aswel, just keep track of your stamina as running out can be a problem.

*Be aware of water area's, "grunts" can hide underwater and give you a suprise*

the "Grunt" can have a torch or cleaver equiped dealing additional damage over time by:
- Bleading damage
- Fire damage

Be carefull of the fire damage as it can ruin your healthbar and cause slow regeneration.
Hives
The "hive" also know as the "♥♥♥♥♥" "witch" or "bugglady" is better to be avoided.
They are mostly placed in strategic points forcing you to either take it out or having you move around it.
Taking the "Hive" out can be done by:
- A simple headshot on their original head (commonly placed at the righthand side hanging next to the body)
- A heavy melee attack with a knife, hammer or axe best aproached quitly from the rear to avoid damage
- 2 heavy melee attacks with your regular rifle (not recommend, after the first attack you are bound take damage)

A nice sneak attack from behind is always a good idea. Charging them up front is a no go.

the "Hive" is a ranged character and will stay in its place unless out of sight or range, she causes:
- Poision damage (preventing health regeneration for up to 30seconds)

Hellhounds
the "Hellhound" is a monster you don't see as much as the others and are mostly found on roads.
They move around in packs of upto 6 so are best to avoid due to there numbers and speed.
They have low health and are taken out by:
- A headshot
- A heavy melee attack with a knife, hammer or axe
- 2 heavy melee attacks with your regular rifle

If they are with not more then 2-3 you can take them out with melee attacks in the right situation. Avoiding these creatures is recommend.

The "hellhounds dont cause any overtime damage as they just do regular bite/jump attacks
Armored
the "armored" is probaply the most dangerous monster in the game due to its high moblity and damage.
Killing the "amored" can be done in mutiple ways:
The recommend one
- Kill it with fire! Grab a lantern or firebomb and toss it at him, this will result 9/10 times in a oneshot
Other ways:
- Shoot it legs, this will cause the "armored" to lose its armor around the legs removing its mobility and making it an easier target to execute
- Use a shotgun, the shotgun creates a huge blast removing the armor of the "armored" and causing it to get knocked back giving you more time for another shot.
- 4 heavy melee attacks can do the job aswel, but only do this when you have taken care of the legg armor
- 4 Knife attacks work aswel, make sure you don't do it alone as you will run out of stamina
Sneaking around this creature is a big recommend

the "armored" does huge damage and is almost impossible to lose due to its high mobilty, avoid attacks at all cost. Use your surroundings and distance to your advantage.

Meatheads
the "Meathead" also know as "Fatass" is one of the mobs you rarely see.
They are easy to avoid due to them not having a head and him not being able to notice ur presense.
Killing this monster on the otherhand is a big deal, it has alot of health and doesnt have any weakspots. This monster is a big waste of ammunition and should be ignored at all cost.
If you still want to take him out then this can be done by:
- Using firebombs (2x) and finishing him off by multiple shots
- Or playing with distance and empty up to 30 rounds into him (bodyshots)

the "Meathead" is a slow character but has big attacks doing crazy damage. be sure to use your enviorment and distance to your advantage.

Be sure to have lots of ammo for this monster as it has alot of health.

Oh, and the most important thing: monsters do not get slowed by deep water! Its very important, because they camp under bridges and in bushes near water, and they can hear you treading throght water from considerable distance.

3 axe's, 3 machete's and 3 romero hatchet's strong attacks kill armors (in 1 stamina bar), while knife cant kill it in 1 stamina bar. Also sledge kills them in 2 or 3 (1 stamina bar is enought for 2 heavy attacks, so take care). Quickly, reliably, silently. Super easy, for you stunlock them. This fact made me bring a machete in place of sawed-offs.
Axe's and sledge's heavy attacks break armor's legs when you hit any bodypart!
Also for some reason hives may not get 1shotted with a knife/machete, my guess is that when you hit a body/arm you dont get enought damage.
Charging facefirst into a hive with a heavy attack ready might be a good idea (unless you are in water), because you can kill her quickly, and with her death the swarm dies as well. You can still take some (tiny) damage + poison, but you can ignore it. Unless you miss or otherwise fail to oneshot her that is. Also, unless you are really close, you can outrun the swarm, you'll need to run around 40m thou.

I found out recently you get 10 points per leech you kill. Just a random tidbit I thought I'd contribute.
