This is a guide that I did collecting data which I think is useful to clarify and will try to make it as short as possible without going into details.
Keep in mind that this is a guide, so it contains spoilers. I will try to keep them to a minimum and at the bottom.

Game saves every time you do a map transition. Remember to change locations inside Glocken once you do something before exiting the game or you will lose it.
If you did mess up with some vendor, weapon upgrade, or didn't like an appraisal you could exit to main menu and reload.

Make a blank "Customization Save" (all stats at level 1) so you could respect later if you would like to test another build.
You will have to buy all skills again for You and your Arfasys.
CP and SP are refunded and Skill Proficiency is saved.

The only downside to a gender is getting an accessory for the one you didn't choose. Game will progress as you were a Male and you ArfaSys Female.

You can skip Cutscenes with ESCAPE.

Game is intended to be played at 30 FPS, more than that and you will have a hard time avoiding stuff. AI's aim becomes superb and your AI get stuck easily.

If you are struggling with some particulary area you could lower the difficulty and pass it easier. But be aware that if you pass certain events like unlocking a new area you will not meet the requirements for certain things (raise Lisbeth's Skill or get the Achievment for killing the last boss on Extreme are things that comes to my mind). You will have to do another NG+ run to fix this.
Difficulty
This is what unlock each one.

EASY:
  • Who play this?

NORMAL:
  • Weapon Rank limited to 4.
  • Lisbeth Smithing limited up to 4.

EXTREME: (Unlocked after beating the game once)
  • New Dungeons.
  • More Enemies overall.
  • Weapon Rank limited to 7.
  • Lisbeth Smithing limited up to 7.

You will often read something about "NG+" that's just starting a new game over your previous character.
  • You will lose your affinity level with npc's,
  • Dual Wielding,
  • and Sword + Gun Feats.
  • You will carry over everything else.
Stats
  • Max Level cap at 150.
  • Stats cap at 255.
  • You can't depend on your NPCs to do damage. So, you will want to max out DEX and LUK for damage.
  • Everything else for whatever skill/weapon you want to use.

What is important:

STR:
  • Weight Capacity.
  • Melee Damage.

VIT:
  • HP

DEX:
  • Critical/Weak Spot Damage.
  • Weapon Damage.

LUK:
  • Critical Rate.

----------------
More info:

VIT:
  • Defense

INT:
  • Skill/Gadget Cooldown Reduction.
  • Buff certains Skills/Gadgets
  • Status Infliction Rate

AGI:
  • Defense
  • Every X points adds a "weight tier" seen on the weight bar, the lower block you are the faster you walk/aimwalk.
  • Running speed is unaffected.
  • Reload Speed.
  • Bullet Circle Speed.

DEX:
  • Buff Gadgets.
  • Bullet Circle Acuracy.

LUK:
  • Item find.
Damage
There are 4 kinds of damage

OPTICAL: (Orb beside the Weapon Power)
  • Less Damage to "Players". (About 30% less)
  • Greater bullet pool size.

PHYSICAL: (Bullet beside the Weapon Power)
  • Less Damage to Monster's hard parts.

EXPLOSIVE: (Launchers)
  • AoE

MELEE:
  • Well, Swords...

  • Every enemy have one or more Weak Spots. Shooting there will result on increased damage.
  • Weak Spot Damage and Critical Damage stack.
  • The Medal Gauge increase your stats, thats why you do more damage after some kills.
  • It's seems that enemies have resistance/debilities to some kinds of weapons.
  • Swords aren't affected by Physical nor Optical Damage mods. But they are affected by Weapon Attack.
  • The gun in Sword & Gun is affected by Physical Damage. I didn't check this out yet.
Weapons
Refer to the list at the top of the guide to find out where they drop. Remember that is intended for NG+ Extreme, so you won't find certain weapons or dungeons may be locked.

  • Pistols have a hidden Critical Rate Modifier,
  • this make SMG's worthless. They look cool tho.
  • A well modded sniper will 1HKO everything. (Except Uniques)
  • Launchers are good to inflict status because of their AoE.
  • Weapon Proficiency increase damage with the corresponding weapon.
  • You raise it doing damage with the corresponding weapon.
  • Dual Wielding just duplicates your ammo clip size at the cost of double stat requirement for the weapon. You don't get to actually choose a second weapon. Reload Speed and Weight remains the same.
  • Like with Dual Wielding, with Sword And Gun you don't get to choose the handgun, they are tied to the sword.
Lisbeth's Workshop
Lisbeth's Weapon Modification Skill: (You can see the current one when you open her Shop)
  • Lv.5 Unlock Solitary Sands on Extreme.
  • Lv.6 Unlock Old South on Extreme.
  • Lv.7 Unlock Flugel on Extreme.

WEAPON ENHANCING:
  • Weapons have ranks from 1 to 7. More Rank more Damage.
  • You can raise it only 2 times, represented in the name as "+" or "++". Ex: "AMR Tiamat++".
  • Rank 7 is the maximum. You can't raise a weapon with base rank 7.
  • You can choose from 3 recipes to upgrade. Choose according your mats.
  • You can buy mats from the Shady Materials Vendor.
  • You can't pass rank 4 on normal difficulty.
  • You can't enhance a weapon equipped. (On you or your ArfaSys)
  • You can't enhance a weapon equipped on a "Customization Save". (On you or your ArfaSys)
  • You can't enhance a weapon saved as Favorite.

WEAPON TRANSFORMING:
  • Weapons have memory slots (aka mods).
  • You can upgrade or replace mods from a weapon with another one. The one you choose first is the weapon to upgrade, the second one is the material.
  • You lose the weapon you used as material.
  • Rarity determines how much mods they have, from 0 (Common) to 8 (Legendary).
  • Weapon Rank and Rarity determines Transformation Chips cost.
  • You can't replace locked slots. (Represented with a golden diamond).
  • You can have half of the total slots unlocked. You need a Unlocking Chip to unlock a slot.
  • You can't repeat mods.
  • You can buy both Chips from the Shady Materials Vendor.
  • Theres is a mod cap based on Lis skill.
  • Locked mods get upgraded automatically if the material have them.
  • Unlocked mods doesn't. You have to select them manually.
  • You can use any weapon as material. Same as when enhancing you can't have it equipped.
  • You can't Transform Accessories nor use as Material.

MODS

This is what you want in a all purpose weapon:
  • Critical Damage
  • Physical/Optical/Explosive Attack
  • Weak Spot Damage
  • Weapon Attack
  • Damage vs. Mechs
  • Damage at Max HP

And two of the following:
  • Ammo Acquired
  • Ammo Capacity
  • Auto-Reload Rate
  • Bullet Circle Accuracy
  • Bullet Circle Stabilization Speed
  • Critical Rate

This is for specific purposes:
  • Damage From Behind
  • Damage Vs. Lifeforms
  • Damage Vs. Humanoids
  • Damage When Near Death
  • Debuff Stacking
  • Experience Points

This is useless:
  • Medal Gauge Increase
  • Trade Value
  • Damage When Off-Guard

Shady location:

AI
  • It's stupid.
  • The order you recluit them, the order they will try to resurrect you.
  • Every IA have a playstyle they will follow. You can't change it except for your Arfasys.
  • Remember to equip your Arfasys.
  • Remember to assign Skills, Gadgets and Stats to your Arfasys.
  • F2 for giving them orders.
  • Don't give her a Smoke granade. It's annoying.
Skills, Gadgets, Weapon Art.
SKILLS
  • You get free SP raising your Bounty Rank.
  • You can exchange medals in the lobby for SP.
  • You share SP with your Arfasys.
  • Each Character have a Skill Set per Weapon Type.
  • You can configure yours and your Arfasys on a Panel in your house, Kirito's and lobby.
  • Buffs and certain skills aren't tied to your weapon, so after you activated it you can swap weapons.
  • Skills and Proficiency are not shared.
  • There are 3 Skill tiers.
  • Tier 2 is unlocked at 50% Proficiency of Tier 1.
  • Tier 3 is unlocked at 100% Proficiency of Tier 2.
  • They have a stat requirement that is incremented in each tier.
  • You gain proficiency every time you cast them. It doesn't matter if you use them or not.

I'm not listing every skill, just the ones that have side effects:
  • Quick Shoot Recharges your Pistol.

GADGETS
  • Are pretty much an extra Skill Set you see pressing TAB
  • You buy them once at a Gadget Shop.
  • Like with Skills you equip them with the same Panel.
  • Like with Skills you raise them by casting them.
  • Don't leave home without your Anti-AR Veil Gadget. It's a deployable hologram barricade that will protect you against Optical weaponry. You are stuck on certain area cause ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥? This is what you are missing.

WEAPON ART
  • These are Ultimate/Super moves.
  • You buy them from Argo they are tied to a Weapon Type.
  • The charge indicator is the weapon icon at the bottom right.
  • You charge it if you have the Super for the Weapon Type you are using. And have above 50% Medal Gauge.
  • To activate it you use (L1 + R1) or (V + T) or (V + Mouse3) or (Skill on Cooldown + Mouse3)
  • When you activate it you're invulnerable until the scene ends.

What they do:
  • Handgun: Increase CDR a lot.
  • Shotgun: Fires an explosive fire shot.
  • SMGs: DIE DIE DIE
  • ARs: Adds fire to your bullets.
  • Launchers: Shoots a cluster grenade.
  • Sniper: Charges your Rifle with a powerful piercing bullet.
  • Gattling: Stomp the floor with the weapon. AoE Damage.
  • Swords: A combo attack.
  • Sword + Gun: Same.
Farming
Farming XP / Medals is done setting your IA to "Don't Shoot" and Killing groups of "Players" exploting the fact that they resurrect between them.. Doesn't work since 1.1.2

For NPC affinity you will want a place with a few snipers, setting them to "Not Shoot" and, with help of the Deflect Bullets Sword Skill, resurrecting them.

For Weapon Proficiency get the one with the most RPM and clip size of each category and pay a visit to Subway A.
This is my favorite spot:
  • Avoid fireball rolling at sides,
  • Try to not fall at ground,
  • Just throw you away at the pit if he comes close to you, his second claw attack will hit you if not.
  • Remember, you gain affinity for each time you do damage with the weapon.

For Skill Proficiency theorically you could do a full INT build for CDR and spam skills,
the Hangun Art increase your CDR a lot.
Remember, you gain affinity for each time you cast the skill, using it doesn't matter.

For Accesories farming, in NG+ Extreme go to and buy form the vendor:

  • You need at least 5M Credits.
  • Every time you close the shop AND the chat it resets its contents.

For Money farming go to Sea Watchtower Dungeon on the first map bottom left and Kill Genbu. He will drop some stones you can sell for high price.

@nekuroi So you seem to be able to help, but I cant seem to figure out how to go to a new weapon class, so far I've been stuck with the shitty starter weapon and some P90 from a dlc. I'm trying to swap for a sniper role but this game's not really helped

that's right

So if I unlock a second tier of a skill by getting for example Tacticle Roll to 50% proficiency I can change to the second tier and get that to 100% for tier 3? I don't need to get 100% in tier 1 and 2 to unlock the last one right?
