Darksiders Abyssal Armour- Locations & Steps
By Rena
Well, I forgot to make a guide about collecting the most wanted equipment in the game, The Abyssal Armour!

This was also requested so I'll make it for the both reasons.

Of course, steps, and locations of the pieces needed to forge it all together as one.

I will break down the locations into quick joint sections determined by the area instead of having it joined all together in one big messy page.
I do apologise if it is too long, I tried to explain in details in the shortest form I can.
Enjoy as always. I didn't have much time to make this so the guide was completed on a later time then intended.

Thank you for the support on reading this and helping it gain some views (don't know the point in that). I do hope I helped many gamers on Darksiders using the guides I have created so far. (I feel like some coach or something?!) (Eitherways, This is one way for me to be known on steam).

Darksiders Abyssal Armour- Scalding Gallows- Piece 1 & 2
You can easily gather 2 Armour pieces when you have reached The Scolding Gallows after you have freed Samael from his prison.

1 you can acquire and the other one requires the Crossblade Gear which you couldn't have obtained at the start on a new game play.

When you have finished the dialogue with Samael and his deal with granting you access towards the tower in exchange for hearts of the chosen, he would have given you a passive ability named Shadowflight. Instructions always come along how to use it so it should be no problems.

Wonder around the area of the gallows and activate a Vulgrim Location. Once done, you should spot a demonic growth to your left so climb it and head towards the chest and gather a wrath shard!
It's not the prize you are looking for but it's a bonus within the room.

At the corner of the lower floor, you should be able to see lava, and a small landing below, plan ahead of how you want to jump and time the opening of the shadowflight to land yourself to safety.

Right up ahead to the right when you have landed is a chest filled with the piece then fly out using the shadow current and continue on with your quest!

If you already have the Crossblade when you are reading this, then you may remember a shadowbomb placed upon the top of a pillar near a building if you have done some exploring.

Simple logic, Crossblades destroys it -> pillar falls/makes a ramp -> towards the chest and the prize is yours to claim.
Darksiders Abyssal Armour - Twilight Cathedral & Drowned Pass- Pieces 3, 4 & 5

The 3rd Piece is a solo piece to be found alone in the Twilight Cathedral, didn't want to watse a small section so I have binded the 2 pieces from Drowned Pass here as well.

The 3rd piece to be found is located in the cathedral as mentioned above.

This will only work if you have finished raising the 3 angels on the round platform high up to the upper ground level by placing 3 crystal swords in their hands. Once raised, approach the block that you have pushed down before on your journey and turn left towards the door with the goremaw attacthed to the top. As you now have the crossblade, Hit the goremaw and quickly open the door and inside is the chest as it is the first thing to be sighted. Open it and it's the 3rd claimed. Drop down below to grab some extra treasure for your use.

The 4th and 5th piece is found within the Drowned Pass area.

You can find the 4th piece regardless if you have done the shadow arena challenges or not. Dive underwater near the entrance to DP area and swim left to find the 4th piece inside the chest waiting. There are enemies waiting for you when you arrive and you can locate yourself here during your shadow arena challenge but take note that because you are in the shadow realm during this time, you cannot open the chest to claim the piece.

The 5th piece is given from the Tormented Gate after you have finished the 4 shadow arena to free him. Easy work.

Darksiders Abyssal Armour- The Hollows, Iron Canopy & Ashlands- Pieces 6,7 & 8

6th Piece is found in The Hollows area.

When you have finished your battle with Uriel during the Black Hammer quest. He will lead you towards a room where he sealed off the area and of course, first thing would be to hop down the hole and continue on the quest. On your way towards the end of the path, take note there is a chest with souls hidden somewhere in the waterfall to the right. Once you reach the end of the path, you will eventually end up being attacked by some huge monster, notice the hole it smashed through when the battle begins. After he's deafeated, the chest should be there at the hole where he smashed through and that is piece 6 done.

Piece 7 is located In the Iron canopy in a room when you fight the loom warden. (a huge spider with a metal carapace armour that you must take off with the chain).

Once defeated, continue on thowards the path you're meant to thread with a demonic growth to the north ( I'm losing a bit of memory) until you find yourself in a big room, look for a swing point and swing inside the room with a chronosphere placed, head towards there and look for a red/orange grapple point and chain it. Chest should be there and that will be your 7th piece.

8th Piece is located in the Ashlands, this can only be grabbed after you have defeated Silitha as you would have grabbed the chain during the mission and found the only escape at the end of her room. Once you have returned out, head/ride towards a cliff that's towards the east of the 3 conencted drilling towers and you should find a Shadow current. Fly up, and continue towards the end of the path but climb up the demonic growth at the left when threading as in contains a soldier artifact on top. Should be easy steps here, You should find an abyssal chain point, swing and around the tower is a chest which you know what it contains.
Darksiders Abyssal Armour- Black Throne & Eden Garden- Final Piece of 9 & 10

The 9th piece is located inside the Black Throne in the 3rd wing of the tower where the last guardian resides. This piece will take a while to get as it is a bit tricky or not to vast majority of people, it also has quite a long gap between collecting the 8th piece and 9th so patience as always, is needed. I will include a walkthrough as to how you can get to the chest.

At the bottom of the long spiral staircase you come across to is a clump of red crystal. Shoot the nearby window portal on the wall and to the north is a chasm with a spinning block floating above it with another portal window. Charge a shot and shoot the window on the spinning block with the Voidwalker.
Now wait by the first portal until the spinning block portal faces north then you should be able to make out a Bomb Growth in the distance. Hop through and float down to get to the northern ledge of the room.

You'll easily spot a bomb growth attatched on to a pole column, this can be snagged off by using the chain.

Firstly, create a portal on the voidwalker sphere that you came past on and it should be linked with the floating block above the chasm and the nearest window. Wait until you see the red crystals appear then quickly snag the bomb and chuck it towards the portal and it should land on the crystals. Watch the spinning block's portal, when it turns towards the other ledge opposite of you and when it turns towards the right, quickly snatch the bomb and chuck it into the portal (which by the time should have faced towards the crystals), this si the way I do it and it's guaranteed to work if you time it.

You may have to wait when you have chucked the bomb through as the block may have turned already. Remember, Patience is the key. You know what to do from that point on. Jump -> Open -> Collect.

The 10th and FInal piece is located within the watery lakes of Eden.

After all you have went through on your journey as War, you are about to collect the last piece to be forged into the hammer and grab the armour and give yourself a taste of epicness probably due to the design of the Armour, It got me.

Once you have finished defeating Shadow War/Dark War/ Phantom War, whatever you want to call it, you are going ot head towards the tree of knowledge but wait, where is the piece? before you head up the stairs, head towards the right and turn on the mask of shadows to find it. You will come along other chests with great rewards inside too so explore carefully.

If you have follwoed my guide or obtained Fury's Embrace, the chests should appear on the mini map so keep your eyes glued there and head towards the chest but don't forget to take a look at the beautiful scenery which doesn't look too beautiful in game.
Darksiders Abyssal Armour- Details

The Abyssal Armour once collected gives you an increase in defense stats. So if you have upgraded Stoneskin to lvl 4 then you have the unbreakable defense and offense inside combat (Stoneskin provides the additional offense, not the Armour).

Not only does it grant additional defense boost but on attacks it also recovers quite a good portion of amount of health back towards you. The health recovery granted is larger than the health regained using Bloodthirst, you may choose to equip bloodthirst along with the armour to have a large amount of health regained when striking.

The name pretty much says it. It's the Abyssal Amour, it is bound to be something dark and evil since it contains 'Abyssal' in it from what I think. So the armour is in a darkish colour of texture and of course a lot of features have been changed/ added. It is a new armour after all. ( I took some time to look for different features).

The shoulder pauldrons have a head of a monster attached to it including a horn which appears to be silver like in colour. The gauntlets seem to appear different as well, War's original armour has his gauntlets looking silver on his right hand and has some sort of silver blade or sharp edge on which now is replaced with a dark large area covering guard on. The left gauntlet that War uses to decimate large foes with stays the same in design but the colour has darkened down to fit in with the armour.

The boots of course has changed in design as well, now with the Abyssal Armour, I can grant the liberty of myself calling it the "Abyssal Boot" which War uses his foot to crush small spiders that's found inside the Iron Canopy so it's pretty fun in a way to name it that. The boot and many parts of the armour of course has darkened down in colour to fit. At the knee, it now has a demon look alike face that seems to have it's mouth opened and is coloured silver like. The whole boot on the front seems like it's more plated as to having more protective parts, the back mainly looks similar instead of having a bit of fur pop out in the original design.

I won't go into too much details so to end it, The hood of the armour hasn't changed design except of colour darkening. It seems to mask a shadow over War's face (except the eyes which is now red-yellow in colour having a bit more evil look into it) possibly to refer him as to a Dark Lord having his appearance make his presence felt( you may have noticed the Shadow/Phantom/Dark War also has his faced masked with this armour so there's a sort of link as to why it creates a shadow to mask the face). You can also see and notice the Red crescent on his forehead signifying/showing his insignia/symbol as a horseman? You know what I mean.

v no you are not :( https://steamproxy.net/app/50620/discussions/0/666825525238470038/ its a shame that you don't get the achievement when loading an existing save where you already unlocked the armour :penguin:

Am I the only one who got the armor but not the achivement? Cause that's kinda dumb if I have to replay the whole game just to get it again >_>

Just want to give some input on this --
I have to say its a huge mistake that you have not taken a picture to show more precisely where the abyssal armor pieces are on map.

Not trying to hate but you can get one of the first 2 by throwing some debris at the bomb.

Btw you can get the second piece of armor (that one with the shadowbomb) by picking up a lantern and throwing it at the shadowbomb. I just did that, maybe I was lucky.

Each piece adds a small amount of armour just like building up towards the big armour when the 10 pieces are collected. The changes of armour boost won't be easily seen unless you have specific tests to watch carefully on your hp after taking an attack with x pieces and y pieces assuming x is lower than y and the enemy is the exact same one that struck you.
