Pets Are Useful!

Ever wondered why you let your pet stay on your ship when it invariably eats the food you meant to give to your friend? Why is it always in the way? Most importantly, why doesn't it pay rent??

Lumina took a look at your pet and decided it needed some training. She also might have implanted a small chip into the back of your pet's head to increase its intelligence, but you'll never know. According to her, your pet will now be able to tell you when it's hungry, and even give you gifts when it's full! If it's in the way, interact with it to nudge it to the side; but be warned, pets are fickle and still won't listen to you if they're hungry.

This mod adjusts groundPet.lua and will thus be incompatible with any mod that changes that file too; frackin universe patch is currently being worked on! (it's still compatible, it'll just overwrite their changes until I'm actually halfway decent at lua!)

TL;DR Your pets will give you useful items when you feed them and interact with them.


Q: How do I feed my pet?
A: Throw food on the ground! If you have a food stacking mod (or you choose to feed them bandages or something), your pet will keep eating from the stack until it's full. It needs 2 food items to be happy, and 3 food items will make it completely full (the item's actual Food Value doesn't matter). If they have hearts over their head while eating, it means they like the food and will always eat it. If they get that squiggily-line over their head when they eat, it means they didn't like the food and probably won't even pay attention to it if you try to give it to them again.

Q: Is this mod compatible with [insert race mod/modded pet here]?
A: As long as the mod uses groundPet.lua (which they almost certainly will), it will be compatible and your new pet will also adopt all of the functionality of this mod!
