123 Wacker

At a mere 30 stories, 123 North Wacker is a modest edition to the Chicago Loop. Its architectural style keeps it quiet while differentiating it from both the gleaming glass obelisks and the art deco artifacts that are its surroundings. It came up in the 1980s, so you could call it postmodern. With a pink marble facade that neatly predicts the colossal 311 Wacker down the street, stark ribbons of inset windows, and a pyramidal crown at the top, this regal office building pays homage to its predecessors and paves the way for its younger neighbors.
