This guide features a series of videos I created to help players new to CK2 or Paradox strategy games in general. I cover the needed info to help players to get in the game and understand basic concepts of gameplay. There are eight videos in the series and each covers a range of topics including some frequently asked questions.

Again...this guide is for beginners to get familiar with game basics.

Introduction...

Crusader Kings II explores one of the defining periods in world history in an experience crafted by the masters of Grand Strategy. Medieval Europe is brought to life in this epic title rife with rich strategic and tactical depth.

You can play as numerous Kingdoms from the period 1066 to 1453.

CK2 is not a "Wargame" in the same vein as say the Total War games or RTS style games like Age of Empires etc. CK2 is a Dynasty Simulator. Your job is to lead your Dynasty over the course of 400 years and to expand and hold on to your provinces and Kingdom.

I created this video series shortly after the game release. It does not cover all the strategies and tactics that can be used in the game. It is intended to be a series for people not familiar with Paradox strategy games or the CK series. If your wanting more advanced information I have a LP series on my Youtube Channel that covers a TON of detail on items beyond this series.

Special Note: Keep in mind this guide was created from the base game shortly after launch. There have been alot of updates, patches and DLC since then. So some things on your screen may be slightly different but the core items of this tutoral are still valid. I may add an updated Part 8 to this series eventually to cover "Update Changes" at some point. Also...watching my LP linked above (especially the later episodes) will be helpful with many game mechanics not covered in this guide.

Update: I added a Part 8 video to the series which covers some updates and a few other important tips to get you up and running in your CK2 adventures. Enjoy!

Thanks so much! I've played Stellaris and was wanting something more historical, but simply couldn't wrap my head around the bulk of it. I just took some notes throughout the series, and I think I'm ready to attempt this all over again after playing like a child for half an hour.

the best way to learn this game is to put 200 hours in using cheats, its also the most fun

Is it bad that A) this person took the time to make the videos, B) needed to make the videos so people knew what to do, and C) after 2 hours 28 minutes and 15 seconds of videos... you only get a rough idea of what to do in a game that came out in 2012? I am all for games that make me work to get somewhere. For instance, 7 days to die I play on harder settings and by the 2nd horde night, I might have something other than a blunderbuss to work with but barely have the ammo to keep up with the 64 zombie setting and them sprinting. But I get to try the game on an easy setting and the game helps you to understand what you need to craft certain things. Someone like me who doesn't come from a crafting open world game can get quite good in a short amount of time. At a certain point, you have to wonder just how difficult the games that paradox makes that they can't include a tutorial in the game comprehensive enough for players to learn how to play.

Little late, but for the sake of posterity, "Attacking" (Assault) during a siege is the equivalent of dropping the siege machines and rushing with ladders. It's extremely risky but could make the siege end sooner.

In my experience it seems to have limited usage unless you're besieging a city with like 3 soldiers or are having your king's army attacked and immediately need reinforcements or something.

Ok, I'm curious. What happens if I click the launch an attack button while I'm doing a siege? I didn't see him click it while sieging Valencia at all.

I would like to ask you players, your computer's win10 system will cause the game mount MOD to flash back?

If someone has the same situation, how do you solve this problem?

hi ho ck2 but I have problems crashes as soon as you start please tell me one advice I have a lenovo ideapad 110 with AMD Radeon E
2 works when I play with europa universalis 4 and with hearts of iron 4 even without Intel and gtx please tell me some advice please help me.Sorry for my bad eniglish but i'm a Italian not eniglish or american.
