[New DLC Chapter Idea] Psychotic Starvation (Wendigo)
By rockboiler
An idea I was developing for a while involving new DLC for a killer, survivor, and map. These relate to the Algonquian folklore mythical creature, the Wendigo which can be recognised from Until Dawn for instance. The survivor, however, is not particularly from any media involving Wendigo, however, their perks relate to the folklore and that was what I was going for.

DISCLAIMER - I know the Hag is inspired by the Wendigo.

This DLC is based off of Algonquian folklore known as the Wendigo. They are mythical cannibalistic creatures or evil spirits said to be found in northern forests of the Atlantic Coast and Great Lakes Region in USA and Canada. They are often portrayed as a spirit which possessed a human, converting them into a cannabilistic monster.

While the killer is clearly based off of common depictions of the Wendigo, the survivor isn't based off anything in particular, only his perks are. The map is based on the locations the Wendigo are often depicted as possessing and living in, mines. This hopefully brings another interior map to the game that could be seen as very interesting I hope.

Also, I’m creating the designs for the perks which there will probably be a few at the end of next week. They won’t be very good though!
The Shapeshifter (Andrew Horton) Benedict Baker's Journal Entry and Backstory
"I thought I had met with an ally and I felt great relief, thinking that I was protected by the presence of others. But, on approach to the noise of my ally's breath and footsteps, all I saw was another terrifying monstrosity crouching over in front of me. Its movements and actions were sharpish and prowling like an animal waiting for its prey. It faced the opposite direction from me, mimicking the sounds of breath and footsteps and then the fixing of a generator. It turned and looked directly into my eyes, as if it knew clearly that I was watching. I could see its huge stag-like antlers casting a shadow across my face. It looked hungry. It was clearly hungry. It looked like a skeleton with skin rather than a body with organs and tissue. Its eyes stare at me with helplessness and sorrow as if something is trapped inside, but then it attacks, running on all fours. When I tried to throw pallets down to escape, it crawled over them like a spider. I can't trust anyone with this animal - this... Shapeshifter - here." - Benedict Baker

Backstory

It was the year 1930, money was running low and many Americans in the United States were in depression due to their losses. Many people were working in low wage jobs already, but soon, all those workers were fired in an attempt to stabilize the company's income. Most workers had to turn to the dangerous jobs to get anything done.

In the winter of 1932, a young man aged only 21 had only one last resort after being fired from office work, then train driving, then train shoveling, and then construction worker. This last resort was to work in mines up in the mountains of Pennsylvania.

The young man, known as Andrew Horton, was looking for money to support his sister. His only remaining family member. She was currently being held in a cheap and run down hospital. She had been diagnosed with cancer only 3 months before.

It was on Andrew's second day of work that the accident had happened. Someone had struck gold - or at least, coal - and put their lantern up close to see it. But the fire caught onto the firedamp emmiting from the coal and it blew the mine sky high. After months of digging through the mine to look for survivors, they came across Andrew Horton. His body was starved of food and water, yet interrogators somehow he survived down in the mines. He was taken into a police station for questioning, but the interrogators didn't last long.

His skin turned pale and he refused to eat anything but meat. 18 days after the event, his teeth became sharp and his eyes showed no signs of life. After 24 days, any signs of Andrew Horton were gone - and what was left was a monstorous shell craving human flesh.

Andrew Horton was finally sent to Lery's Memorial Institute in 1979 after being locked up in an insane asylum for years. It was a final attempt to control and repair his mind.

However, in 1983, the facility went silent. Bodies with their inards torn out were found, but there was no sign of Andrew Horton or The Doctor left to be found. The government condemned the site and anything relating to the two terrifying creatures.
The Shapeshifter (Andrew Horton) - Stats and Appearance
Appearance

Unlike other killers, the Shapeshifter becomes more and more hunched as bloodlust increases, eventually on all four limbs at bloodlust 3. As suggested by Vennevariable.

The Shapeshifter has pale skin imprinted on a body with almost no muscle or fat, leaving only bare bone. It looks like it should not be able to support its weight but moves swiftly and quickly. It bears two large antlers on its head like those on a stag. Although it looks inhuman, I can tell it once was.

DISCLAIMER - I get it. The hag is based off a wendigo!!!

The Shapeshifter (Andrew Horton) - Teachable Perks and Addons
Teachable Perks

Level 30 - Eyes Everywhere (Alt names: Attentive, Perceptive, I Can See You, I Can Sense You, I Know You're Watching)

It is almost like you have eyes in the back of your head. You get a directional hint when someone is looking directly at you from a 16 / 24 / 32 meter range.

"You 'ave to have eyes in the back of your head to survive in the mines." - Andrew Horton

(The directional hint being the red arrow that appears when a generator is completed, however, without the generator clearly visible)

Level 35 - Firedamp

You seem to bring the flammable gasses of the mine you came from, no matter where you go. Slightly / Moderately / Considerably increases the dark mist but only for the survivors. Tier 3 Only - Failing a skill check on a generator has a 1% chance to put the survivor in the injured state. (Inspired by Faolawn, thanks!)

"They can't keep me locked up in here. I'll slip out one way or another. I need to. To feast." - Andrew Horton

Level 40 - Vicious Sprint

Your hunger for human blood pumps black adrenaline through your veins. Bloodlust takes 10 / 20 / 30 % less time to increase. Bloodlust also makes you 5 / 10 / 20 % faster than normal bloodlust.

"Once I've chosen my food, there's no escaping." - Andrew Horton

DISCLAIMER - I did the math. Bloodlust usually is +0.2, +0.6, and +1.2 which then sums up to a speed of 4.8m/s, 5.2m/s, and 5.8m/s. Once this perk is active at tier 3, this only becomes +0.24, +0.72, and +1.44. Which makes the final speed just 4.84m/s, 5.32m/s, and 6.04. Therefore, it isn't very overpowered. I changed the speed decrease. It now only goes up to 30% meaning it is 60% the original at best. That takes 31.5 seconds to get to bloodlust 3 at tier 3.

(A Few) Addons

I will probably add more as I go on and also take any suggestions. I will give full credit to anyone who comes up with a good addon.

Climbing Axe - Very Rare - An axe used to climb large rocks and ice.
- Grants the ability to climb over pallets instead of destroying them.

Miner's Helmet - Ultra Rare - A helmet wore by miners to keep them safe from head injuries. It didn't save them very often.
- The killer takes the shape of a more human form, shrinking down to the size of other survivors and running like them.

"I didn't ask for this. I didn't ask to be turned into a monster!" - Andrew Horton

Diamond Shard - Very Rare - A few shards of diamond harvested from the remains of a burnt down mineshaft.
- Grants the ability to see the auras of survivors who are looking at you during Mimicry from 32 meters away.

- Grants the ability to see the auras of survivors who are looking at you during Mimicry from 12 meters away.

- Tremendously increases the length at which Mimicry can last.
- Tremendously increases the volume at which Mimicry is heard.

- Considerably increases the length at which Mimicry can last.
- Considerably increases the volume at which Mimicry is heard.

Family Necklace - Uncommon - A heart-shaped necklace with a picture of a lady, a man in a miner's uniform, and a young girl inside. The beads along the strap are no longer there.
- Moderately increases the length at which Mimicry can last.
- Moderately increases the volume at which Mimicry is heard.

Family Photo - Common - A slightly curved picture of two children and a lady, standing next to a miner. It is blackened at the corners.
- Slightly increases the length at which Mimicry can last.
- Slightly increases the length at which Mimicry is heard.
Mason Mahler - Benedict Baker's Journal Entry
"I thought I saw another monster the other day. However, on further inspection, it was a survivor joining us in this other worldly place. The reason behind my thoughts is his looks. He doesn't look human like the other survivors. He looks like he's halfway there to becoming a monster. He is skinny and pale with indents in his bone. He looks old but claims to be young. He seems to be in this nightmare with us but he smiles. He calls himself Mason Mahler."

"I saw Mason Mahler walk up to a dead body today. He looked alert, which isn't unusual for a survivor to do normally, but it was unusual for Mason Mahler to do. He didn't seem to have a care in the world. I attempted to go close, but stopped. He kneeled down to the body and picked up the poor survivor's cherished tools. But it gets worse. He looked around and I had to hide, and when I turned back, he had ripped the body open and was salivating over the survivor's innards as he plunged his hands deep in to the survivor's stomach and thrusted flesh into his mouth with thorough excitement. Is there a difference between survivor and killer anymore?"
Mason Mahler - Appearance and Backstory
Appearance

Mason Mahler is unlike the other survivors in many ways. One of these being appearance. Mason shares resemblance to his killer opposite. His skin is pale with not much fat or muscle left in his body. Indents cut deep into his flesh, showing through areas where his body has almost deteriated from the inside out. He is only in his 40s, however, he looks like an old man and then some.

Backstory

Mason was a nice man with a wife and two kids happily living in a small town in Minnesota, USA. His life at home was perfect. His wife was beautiful and clever, which was passed onto his son and daughter, who loved each other dearly. His problem was his job. He worked in a low wage mineshaft up in the mountains which sounds dangerous enough, but added on is the warning that the locals write every time they enter. "Danger" on the walls here, "Get out while you still can" over there. His wife on the other hand worked happily as a singer and actor, starring in several famous films. This was the story that he told the police when they found him, starving and deteriated in the woods. The story he told them before tearing the Chief's face to shreds with his teeth alone and then running back into the woods never to be seen again. The only proof of his story were the birth certificates of his children and the house he mentioned. His wife was never seen in any movies, and the children were not remembered or registered in any hospital nearby.
Mason Mahler - Teachable Perks

Level 30 - Kleptomania
(As suggested by Destinys)

You have a keen eye for the belongings of others. Unlocks potential in one's aura reading ability. The Auras of other survivor's dropped belongings are revealed to you within a 16 / 24 / 36 meter range.

"I love to steal. Sometimes, I do it without thinking, but I never regret it." - Mason Mahler

Level 35 - Killer Curiosity

Your cannabilistic nature is making the Entity curious. It can't keep focus on its own tasks. The Entity blocks windows 30 / 40 / 50 % slower and takes 1 / 2 / 3 more second(s) to sacrifice a survivor. However, the killer can go 1 / 2 / 3 meters further through the exit gate.

"I don’t give in to anything! Not even the Entity." - Mason Mahler

Level 40 - Anthropophagous

It's been a while since your last full meal. Your hunger soon drives you towards your dead comrades. When walking over a survivor's dead body, you can take a bite to instantly heal one state (even in the dying state) and gain a small speed boost for 10 / 20 / 30 seconds. In addition, instead of being sacrificed, 1 / 2 / all survivor’s corpses drop off of the hook. Tier 3 Only: You can also see the auras of your dead friends from a distance of 22 meters.

"I’m much like him. He’s hungry, so am I." - Mason Mahler
Realm - Great Lakes Mineshaft
An indoor realm resembling a mineshaft, with the exits enclosed off by gates. It is different to the other indoor map because it consists mainly of long tunnels with branching off paths rather than a set of rooms connected with corridors. It includes large open tunnels, miners' dormitories, and branching off smaller tunnels. The large tunnels often include objects such as minecarts and pallets to escape the killer.

Offerings

Lyon's Pickaxe - Rare - Lyon's pickaxe was found by his wife, lying next to his dead body in a collapsed mine. His body was blackened by fire. Tremendously increases the chance to be sent to Great Lakes Mineshaft when burnt.
- Stacks.

Charred Flesh - Uncommon - A piece of flesh from a dead body that was found in a burnt out mine. It is still warm to touch. Considerably increases the chance to be sent to Great Lakes Mineshaft when burnt.
- Stacks.

Coal - Common - Either the remains of a dead body or coal broken off from a vein. It was found in a blackened mineshaft. Moderately increases the chance to be sent to Great Lakes Mineshaft when burnt.
- Stacks.

I just have one suggestion: Change Kleptomania, as now it would just be a worse version of Plunderer's Instinct.
