Exterminatus Melee Combat Guide/Chaos Invasion Loadouts.

Are you sick of being wrecked in melee combat against Chaos Space marines (CSM) and Orks (Orks) and getting to the final area for the Chaos Invasion (CI), only to die four minutes in? Well after this it's going to be the other way around. Plus, CI Loadouts.

Part 0: Weapon Damage Values (WIP)
The damage with NPCs in Space marine is really basic.

There's no random damage value for this game, it's all down to how many shots/swings.

Four shots from a basic bolter without Kraken rounds kills an Orkboy in 4 shots and the Bolt Pistol kills one in two.

Yeah, it's super simple. Sadly, this type of damage system leaves certain weapons redundant and worthless.

Another Big tip about melee is; make sure your attacks land correctly or you'll just end up trimming the Orkz or Space marine's skin or armor doing near to no damage.

Remember this; when enemies are hit by the edge of your weapon's reach, it will do less damage so the closer you are the more damage you do.

The Power sword is purely cosmetic and doesn't have any different states to that of the Chainsword, this is the same for Relic Chainsword also, neither will be added to this list.

Anyway, onto the amount of hits it takes for each melee weapon for each enemy. If the damage values are wrong for higher threats, we apologize.

Part 1: Tactical, Combat Guide.

Update: I came back and looked at this guide and the grammer is horrendous, a heretic wrote this.

First off the list, I use mouse and keyboard, and I use the default config controls for Space marine.

When you see these numbers X2 <--- it means swing twice.

Remember; play how you want to its all in good fun, but if you want to go for the victory your going to need one that can kill mobs and one that can kill heavies.
And the best of all TEAMWORK!! :)

[Knife Loop].
Swing twice, change direction again. Loop.

Button Example: W RMBx2, S RMBx2. Loop.

[Snap attack/Ending attack]
Swing once forward, than swing backwards.

You can press F (Default) at the end of this one to use the knifes strong attack.

Button Example: W RMB, S RMB, F.

[Knife double. double snap attack/Ending attack]
Swing foward twice, than swing backwards, then swing foward again.

Samething, you can use F to use the strong attack.

Button Example: W RMBx2, S RMB,W RMB, F.

[Shoulder/roll]

Just hold down your sprint key then press your melee attack button and press your roll button. You must press the roll button just right to give you that speed boost. with also avoiding the shoulder ram recovery frames.

Button Example: Shift RMB/Spacebar.

After you've slamed into an enemy, you can spam your melee button to skip the recovery animation frames. With this you can land a blow stunning or knocking over a mob and getting out of the way with suffering only some minor damage.

Roll then just keep pressing your melee button.

Tips:

Also you can start all your melee attacks with a backhand swing.

Default Button: F

You can throw a stun attack in the middle of all of these combos.

Tacticals can shoulder ram into bigger Nobz and enemies to stun them to gain a chance of avoiding a fatel blow or to give you a chance of escape.

Jump Assaults can be stun locked by Black Nobz, Stay clear of these guys if you are a JPA unless you have a teammate that's able to stun him out of his combo to help you take him down.
If you're a Tractical you can roll out of this stunlock.

Why have a combo guide for such a weak weapon... Well, when your playing horde based type modes, if your striving for victory you want to save as much ammo as you can and if you can use the knife effectly then you'll save high amounts of ammo for something worse.



Part 2: Jump Assault/JPA, Combat Guide.

DEATH FROM ABOVE!!

When you change directions you can add more swings to your combos.

Also remember you can do these in any direction, your marine might end up locking onto an enemy and messing up your combo.


Chainsword, Relic and Power.

[Sword attack loop]

Same as the Tacticals loop. But you can do a third swing.

Swing foward twice. then change direction. swing twice change direction loop.

You add a third swing to that loop but its slower.

Button Example: W RMBx3, S RMBx3. Loop

Button Example: W RMBx2, S RMBx2, Loop

Remember, you can start all of your combos with a backhand by pressing F (Default).

I don't know if this is true or not, when you start your attacks in a different direction instead of just in front of you, the chainsword roars louder and with a more brighter and shown flame effect on the blade and trail. I don't know if this has a damage increase or not.

Doesn't matter which direction you start from.

[AOE Stun stomp]
This is by far the best stun in the game for Exterminatus.

Swing three times then press your stun assigned key.

Button Example: RMBx3 F (Default)

All Orkboyz can be stuned with this on one stomp.

Big OrkNobz (Or whatever their called) take nearly 2-3.

Big Shooter Nobz take roughly the same as a Big red nob.

Big Rocket Nobz take a few.

Blacknobz take a few.

Sure Strike doubles your stun power and range.

[Quick landing attack]
when you get the hang of this your going to be abusing it alot.

With this attack you can hit 2 or more enemies and gain health from each one if you time it right you can regain nearly a full healthbar. Remember: This only works if you have Swordsman's Zeal for the Chain/Relicsword, Poweraxe and Powersword, they all have their own perk, there's Power swordsman's Zeal for the Powersword and Axeman's Zeal for the Poweraxe.

To perform this attack just jump a tiny bit then click your attack button, this doesn't use to much fuel depending how high you jumped. Everything on this guide is down to your choice of equipment.

I use air cooled thrusters and if i'm not playing around and don't make a mistake i can take points solo with just jumping slightly and recovering more health then I usally should. Also you can use it to dodge certain attacks and jump right back into it.

Its a hard choice of having sure-strike or air cooled thrusters. Having the power to stun mobs, bigger Nobz and Chaos Space marines or worry about trying to manage my fuel.

Always keep your jump pack fueled its your best escape.

You can cancel anything with the jump pack. That is why its wise to use the [Quick landing attack]
It doesn't use much fuel so manage your Jump pack fuel and you will survive longer in battle.

Just as you land the attack and colide with your target jump away.

This can help with dealing with Black nobs while dealing damage and stunning them while avoiding getting stunlocked.

Poweraxe/Chainaxe

The stun is the slowest for this attack but the rest is faster than the normal power axe combo.

Power hammer/Daemon Maul

The power hammer is very limited for combos. But, can be very devastating.
You need skill to use this weapon, it's very slow leaving you open. time your jumps, don't waste fuel.

The power hammer's default combo can only do three swings. lets take it to five swings

Swing twice forward, then backwards once, then twice forward.

Button Example: W RMBx2, S RMB, W RMBx2.

Swing foward then backwards, then foward again.

On the second swing is the AOE hammerslam

But its slower than the power axe's and the chainswords/powerswords stomp.

Just because you have a thunderhammer NEVER engage a block nob in melee with one unless you have someone there to constantly stun him.

Also do not use the [Quick landing attack] for the power hammer it does too little damage to anything even with Killing blow.

Plasma pistol.

I'll tell you this now don't forget to use this little beauty.

The plasma pistol can be fired like a machine gun and you can charge it up and launch a sticky bomb and stick it to one poor bastard in the middle of the mob coming after you.

Do not be afraid to use your sidearm it can save your a life.

You can fire charged rounds while flying through the air.
One: it feels awesome.
Two: it kills.







Part 3 (Devastator)
There's not really much you can do with the Devastator only F too Stomp and kicking them in the face.

but the Lascannon.

[Lascannon strafing]

With Lascannon strafing you don't even need to aim. just dodge and shoot what's in front of you.
But you're going to need to practise on finding where you need to point the gun before you fire, without scoping.
Part 4: Best perks/Wargear for CI.
Chaos invasion is the hardest arena in the game.

Because you get an Ork Killa Kan at the final wave. Also Space marines. That stun you no matter what you do. Oh, and Black Nobs, don't forget about them

The worst Space marines you have to watch out for are the Vanguards; they have Chainswords and bolt pistols, if you're armor is down they aim for your head and headshot you, killing you with one shot. They can beat anything in close combat but the Daemon Maul.

I will give you loadouts i used with my two brothers to beat this arena. The fourth I don't know cause I only did it with me and my two brothers, but I think the fourth should be an assault to cover the hammer.

Reminder. the fourth slot could be something else. those other three are the most important.

Purge the Xenos
Brothers may you rain down upon the xenos in the name of the emperor. WARNING: you're AOE stomp can bug out sometimes because of Connection lag. The host is not effected by this bug.

Yeah i use that type of loadout aswell but as you said the flaw is dealing with heavies.

As a support assault I've had some success with a zealed axe and impenetrable. All but useless against heavies, though.

That's the worse part of the whole arena. Take out the squigs first. then group the nobz all together without getting shot by the killa kans. and have the Lascannon do his job on taking down all the black ork nobz If ammo drops The lascannon user should pick it up. and if he's full the tactical should. Also if you have plenty of lives and you're guns are empty and its just the killa Kans left. have the Tactical and the lascannon kill them selfs to get ammo back. but Don't step out intill they respawn. this might also help it has a layout of the whole arena. http://spacemarine.wikia.com/wiki/Chaos_Unleashed
