The Korangal Valley campaign was a series of military operations conducted by ISAF forces against Taliban insurgents in the Korangal Valley in Kunar province, Afghanistan, from October 2004 to April 2010. The campaign ended with a US withdrawal from the valley, after suffering heavy casualties, and a Taliban takeover of the area.

US forces from the 2nd Battalion, 27th Infantry have been deployed in the abandoned little town of Ovallestan, in the Kunar province, eastern Afghanistan. The Taliban insurgency has taken over the location, blockading an important road to the capital of the province, Asadabad. The fights started the 5th April at night, when a platoon of the US Army was ambushed during a demining mission. The task of the NATO forces is to take back Ovallestan and ensure the road to Asadabad.

You will take the role of a team leader from the 2nd Battalion, 27th Infantry Regiment during one of the hardest moments in the War in Afghanistan. You are the team leader of 'Hammer 1-1', and another team has been pinned down near the position of the US convoy. Your task is to link up with them and take back a ville that is being used as a weapons depot and an apartments building that is being used by snipers and militiamen.
