This is a guide to getting Age of Empires Online to work properly on Windows 8. When you first install it on 8 it gives you the error code 800B0100. This should fix this error code, and allow the game to launch.

How to fix windows 8 error code 800B0100

After upgrading to Windows 8 64 Bit, I was unable to run AoE Online. The game was giving 800B0100 error.

Place your mouse to the left bottom of the screen and then perform a right click. Now select Programs and Features from the list.

From here, remove anything related to Games for Windows Live.

After that, download the latest client from here:

http://www.xbox.com/en-US/live/pc/downloadclient

Run the installer. Launch GFWL and login to your account. Now AoE should work properly.

Ok look man, stop arguing with me. This is the method I used to fix the error when I was having it. It worked flawlessly. It's fine that you used another method, if you have a different way write a guide of your own, but don't try to tell me this didn't work when I know it's how I fixed my error problem.

Also you said your error was LOGGING IN. That's not what this is for. This is for the game not even starting. Totally different things, so please move along.
