Level Up Table (Levels 1-25)
(Player characters start with 10 points already invested in every attribute and 0 points already invested in every combat ability and civil ability. Through leveling up they can invest up to 30 points into any attribute, up to 10 points into any combat ability and up to 5 points into any civil ability. More points can be invested through various talents and equipment with seemingly no hard cap. Player characters in Game Master mode get an extra two attribute points to spend at level 1. Other than that they seem to follow the same table below when leveling up.)

Notes
*36* - Level 36 is the level cap for player characters due to a bug. The value for experience in this game is saved as a signed 32-bit integer meaning the maximum possible value for experience is 2,147,483,648. A single point of experience beyond that will cause the value to overflow to -2,147,483,648 and start increasing again from there. This presents a problem as getting to level 37 requires 2,592,356,000 total experience. All attribute points, combat points, civil points and talent points beyond level 36 on the table will be estimates based on patterns from previous levels.

Due to the way leveling is handled this also resets player characters back to level 1. All attribute points, combat points, civil points and talents will still be fine, however, anything that takes character level into account such as vitality or spell power will be greatly weakened.

Non-Player characters can be manually adjusted past this cap in Game Master mode with no negative side effects as they do not rely on experience to gain levels.

**42** - Level 42 is the point at which the amount of experience needed to get to the next level counter rolls over. The value for it is saved as an unsigned 32-bit integer meaning the maximum possible value for it is 4,294,967,295. Unlike experience the minimum value is only 0. At this point onwards, the value for experience and amount of experience needed to get to the next level roll over so frequently that it becomes nearly impossible to calculate the correct values for either. Experience values beyond level 42 on the table will use the rolled over values instead of the correct values.

***50*** - Level 50 is the level cap for non-player characters unless the game is modded in some way that removes this cap. Non-Player characters cannot be manually leveled beyond 50 in Game Master mode. It's possible that there are levels beyond 50 as the amount of experience needed to get to the next level counter continues to display a number.

The theoretical level 51 would take 91,707,975 experience to reach due to the overflow bug. This would net a total of 28,256,863,524 experience. It would reward the player character with 2 attribute points, 1 combat point and 0 civil points and talent points.

I only got to level 35. For some reason the xp requires for level 36 is a lot higher than what is shown in this table

I got to level 31 by the end of Fort Joy by using a Monster Leveling mod. So people would use that to level the NPCs to their level. I would use it to level the NPC to +3 to +5 my level. They are harder, drops better loots and gives tons of exp. However, can't get the NPCs to go pass level 35. The game would freeze.

I got 36 level, then when i got some exp, it will show level up and become level 1..... is there anyway to go level 37?
UncleDrake 23 Sep, 2020 @ 12:34pm
There's no bug here. It's impossible to get higher than lv 25, even on a solo kill everyone, do everything challenge run, you'll end up at lv 25, halfway towards lv 26. There is no way of gaining any more exp then that in the campaign, unless you mod exp gain up

If anyone knows, where I could find the file where this formula is located? I want to edit this :steamhappy:

Thanks mate, used this table for my campaign. Took the liberty of referencing you :). Cheers, Awesomo-3000

I don't understand this. Is there any increase in character stats while leveling up? Like I mean without points into attributes. Say all of them stay at 10. Does base damage and hp by level ever go up without increasing stats?
Dod Brackle 18 Apr, 2018 @ 10:31pm
I know im a bit late on this but when you say it's easy to fix the level 36 bit problem, do you mean it's easily fixed by using the Divinity Engine or some other mean? If its done by engine or any way really, could you share in detail?
