Hunter Overview
Hunters are a special class in Smite that require the most reflexes to master. They rely mainly on basic attacks and mouse precision. Some of them tend to be a bit more ability based but this just makes classifying them into groups easier. This guide will teach you the different types of hunters, some tips on how to be a better hunter, and see if you have what it takes to be one of the greats!
Hunters:
  • Ah Muzen Cab
  • Anhur
  • Apollo
  • Artemis
  • Cernunnos
  • Chiron
  • Cupid
  • Hachiman
  • Hou Yi
  • Izanami
  • Jing Wei
  • Medusa
  • Neith
  • Rama
  • Skadi
  • Ullr
  • Xbalanque
Gameplay Style
There aren't very many types of hunters but they can easily be seperated into these:

Basic Attack Based:
These hunters maily rely on basic attacks. They might also have self-buffs to boost the effect of basic attacks.
  • Apollo
  • Artemis
  • Cernunnos
  • Hachiman
  • Izanami
  • Jing Wei
  • Rama
Ability Based:
Ability based hunters still have effective basic attacks but their kit is mainly reliant on abilities as the main source of damage.
  • Anhur
  • Cupid
  • Hou Yi
  • Medusa
  • Neith
  • Skadi
  • Ullr
  • Xbalanque
Mixed:
All hunters have basic attacks and abilities but these hunter's abilities can co-exist with their attacks.
  • Ah Muzen Cab
  • Chiron
  • Cupid
  • Hachiman
  • Rama
  • Ullr
How to know if you would be a good Hunter
Hunters require both accuracy and quick reflexes to master. They normally have to use their abilities to perform combos with their basic attacks. They also have to build like hunters, so they need to kill their prey as quickly as possible because hunters were not meant for chasing the weak very far. Here are some tips on how to become a better hunter:
  1. You have to land basic attacks. This is a must. It takes practice to get very good at it but eventually, you will get the hang of it. Basic attacks are the life blood of all hunters.
  2. You must wait your turn. Hunters can't sustain themselves very well in the front lines so wait for your tank your frontline god to deal a little bit of damage and then strike.
  3. Like all classes, map awareness is very important. You need to know if you have time to out-box your opponent or if you need to run.
  4. Practice makes perfect: Never underestimate the value of the jungle practice map or co-op modes. This can give you the confidence you need to become more skilled.
In this series I like to show the work of Raynday as he gives a basic overview of how to be better at specific roles. Make sure to subscribe to him as he works really hard to improve the Smite community.
Lethal Tips
These tips should help you become a great hunter:
Land Your Basics
  • I reccomend adjusting your sensitivity to where you like it. This may take some time but eventually it will be perfect for you. Everybody has different comfort factors but this is one that everybody has.
  • Practice "the whip". No this doesn't mean the modern dance but rather the effect of moving your screen so your basic attacks are less predictable. This will make it harder for the enemy to dodge your basic attacks. However, this is an extremely hard meneuver and I reccomend looking it up and practicing it.
  • Mess around with the targeting settings. You might have to do it in game but you can do it in the jungle practice mode. This can give you a little targeting line and even a target marker on your screen. This can be quite effective to really hone your skills.
Build Correctly:
Learning to build properly is essential to becoming a better hunter. If you are going against a couple high health enemies, get some penetration or if you are going against relatively squishy people, crits can kill them even faster.
Deal Damage
Even if you don't get the kill, deal as much damage as you can. You can easily shred people so that other gods on your team can finish them off. Sometimes it pays off to be selfless.

That's all the classes folks. Look out for more guides to come. Also, thank you for all the support, I really appreciate it guys! :)

Yeah and that is why you dont use your 1 that often in the laning phase. And idk but as far as I know a hunter is not an initiator. It could be setup for if you are already winning the fight but I wouldent reccomend jumping in front of your frontline.

The fact that his 1 costs mana and early game that can eat a lot is one of the reasons i put him ability based. Another reason is that his 2 and 3 combo does a lot of burst damage and that can be an easy initiation for a fight.

Yes Xbalanque is very ability based... KAPPA... I mean you cant really kill enemies in 2 shots with crits in the lategame because of your 1.

I mainly put him with the Ability's group because he eats a lot of mana so he would probably end up buying trans or other items that boost mana a bit so that he can bing in extra abilities. Yes, he does have abilities that effect his basic attacks and building him based on those attacks is smart but you won't be able to stay in lane after you use your 1&2 combo a few times.

In my humble opnion is anhur on mixed hunters and not abbilitie. Considering the fact dat his 1 gives him extra basic attack damage to enemies in range of the pilar. and his passive is also build arround basic attacks

triple stacking kuzenbo hurts man.
Alchemistream  [author] 3 Oct, 2017 @ 3:31pm
Haha, kuzenbo has kinda fallen off meta anyway. Not really concerned with his damage output at the moment.
brokenseams 2 Oct, 2017 @ 11:16pm
why would kuzenbo be in guardians? I think you're confused with assassins, author please fix
