When you're ingame...

Then...

If your Controller is NOT listed under "Active Controllers"...

If your Controller is listed under "Active Controllers"...

Comments

First you have to...

1. Start the Game
2. Go to Paradise City
3. Click on Paradise Cars/Bikes/...
4. Choose your Car/Bike/...

When you're ingame...

1. Press ESC
2. Double press F2
3. Control Settings

Then...

1. Connect your controller to your PC / Mac / Whatever

If your Controller is NOT listed under "Active Controllers"...

1. Click on a random keyboard control in the list | For example A (accelerate)
2. Bind it to a random button on your gamepad | For example RT
3. Continue with the next step

If your Controller is listed under "Active Controllers"...

1. Click on it
2. Use default Settings

Great guide. For @PVT Autistic and anyone else who has the issue, just follow the steps for rebinding each input manually. I encountered this specific error message when trying to use my XBox One Controller, and telling the game which inputs meant what worked without a problem.
