Relieving stutters in Sherlock Holmes: Crimes and Punishments
By Frugl
By default Crimes and Punishments comes configured with a fairly low texture streaming pool size, resulting in a stuttery game experience, even on a high end system. This guide explains how to alter the size of the streaming pool by editing a single .ini file.

Navigating to the configuration folder
You should be able to locate the Sherlock Holmes save folder at the following path:
%USERPROFILE%\Documents\My Games\Sherlock Holmes - Crimes and Punishments\SH7Game\Config
Once you've reached this folder, locate and open the SH7Engine.ini file in your text editor of choice.
Editing the .ini
Once you've got the file opened in your text editor of choice, you'll want to locate the following line:

Ideally you'll want this size to be a reasonable chunk of your available VRAM in megabytes, while still leaving memory for other applications on your system. Personally I've found that 2 gigabytes is plenty to significantly decrease the amount of stuttering in SH7, and as such would set the following:

That's it!
Make sure to save the edits, and start enjoying a smoother gameplay experience!

Another fix you could include in this guide that fixed a shadow flickering issue for me:

Right click on the game on the steam library -> properties -> set launch options -> -dx9

It is especially noticeable on the garden of the first case, where shadows on the plants flickered non-stop. It should be resolved with your fix and this one.
