Inspired by Specialization Categories, Improved Armor Descriptions extends similar functionality to all vanilla armor, adding Tier, Race and Specialization descriptors to each vanilla armor's description where applicable, providing slightly more feedback than just comparing the broad item rarities or stats. As an added benefit, the improved descriptions will serve collectors in determining what racial pieces they may be missing.

Version 2.0
This one has been a long time coming. While armor categories were not used internally, numerous modders made use of them. One solid example is RPG Growth, which calls to the categories when using the Jeweler profession. Version 2.0 rewrites the mod to append the tags to the armor description, returning categories to their vanilla state. This has not been tested without tooltip extenders, so please report any text overrun. Additionally, any items generated before receiving this update will still appear and function as if you had not yet received the update; only items created/found after the update will be affected.

Compatibility
This mod replaces the "description" path on all vanilla pieces of non-cosmetic armor. Any mod that alters the same path will cause changes from one mod or the other to be negated.

Not sure if that reply was for me but I'm not having any issues, I was just letting people know that the mod still works and that you don't need it on the server to work. I'm only using a handful of simple mods for now.

Then you have a mod conflict otherwise. The mod works fine, but any other mod that edits descriptions or edits armor without patching will conflict.

This mod works fine for me when only on the client and playing on a vanilla server.

And it's finally done. If anybody still cares, version 2.0 is out and fixes incompatibility with RPG Growth.

Just been made aware that this mod conflicts with RPG Growth, breaking the Jeweler profession. I will be rewriting this mod in the (near?) future to address this incompatibility.

Yes, weapons have varied stats, but it's far more complex than just one tier being higher than another, plus there's NO way to produce static descriptions for randomly generated weapons (which make up the vast majority of all weapons used).

As to why racials were removed, it was probably the same reason why racial storylines and quests, ~75% of codex entries, multiple bosses, and a ton of quests were removed - no reason whatsoever.
