Tokyo Ghoul is a manga by Sui Ishida, published since 2011, in the genres of senen, horror, drama, action and science fiction. It consists of two main manga: Tokyo Ghoul (143 chapters) and Tokyo Ghoul: re (179 chapters), which continues the story of the first. There is also a short web spin-off Tokyo Ghoul: Jack (7 chapters). Since 2014, an anime adaptation has been released, the plot of which is slightly different from the original, especially in the second season. There are also various short stories.
Humans and ghouls are two intelligent species fighting for the streets of Tokyo. Ghouls are bloodthirsty predators for humans, who deserve only extermination. Humans are the only food available to ghouls. Each side has its own truth, its own innocent victims and executioners. And what should the main character, who cares about both, do?
Kaneki Ken, the main character of this manga, takes on an impossible burden. How to reconcile two races whose history is written in blood? And how to choose a side in this battle if both humans and ghouls have defenseless children, and their mothers cry the same way?
Not all ghouls are murderers. The cafe "Anteiku", where Kaneki finds shelter and work, serves as a place to help the same helpless predators. And at the same time, in the CCG department - the ghoul control service - there are maniacs more terrifying than other cannibals.Kaneki is no longer a human, not yet a ghoul. He had experienced the despair of a weak man, whom the monster devours with a smile. I felt the frenzied hunger of this monster. He experienced self-loathing, becoming an ogre in order to survive. The defenseless are dying before his eyes, and Kaneki must change if he wants to protect them.
This is a heartbreaking story about a man who sacrificed himself to become a ghoul who would break the system.
Strength level
The level of forces of the universe is Average superhuman. Ghouls have the ability to release kagune, a separate organ that takes on various forms depending on the ghoul itself and its nutrition. Kagune originates from kakuho, an internal organ that accumulates special cells, with the help of which kagune appears. The weakest ghouls can barely break a wall, but the strongest are able to destroy buildings. Ghouls are hunted by the CCG, using the kuinke, a weapon created from kakuho ghoul, and sometimes more advanced.
There are also semi-ghouls (one-eyed ghouls, owls) who have been implanted with kakuho, so they can use kagune. Depending on the ability to embed into the body, average half-ghouls can have strength superior to the same average born ghoul.
