Its a simple game with a simple premise at a reasonable price. Something you can just sit back and play for 5-10 minutes when you're bored.

Positives: Good and simple mechanics, procedurally generated worlds, no in game purchases, and graphics that don't require a super computer to run

Negatives: No mouse control (which might be more intuitive than the keyboard), the motion blur is kind of glitchy (but this can be turned off in the settings), and the camera sometimes isn't smooth at polar angles, but this isn't a majorly noticeable thing during gameplay.

Recommend: If you like fast paced brutal action, want to kill demons, want to focus
Not recommend: If you just want to relax

Whether or not you enjoy doom depends on a lot of factors - for some I imagine this game will be a blast and a core memory - for others it might not be. It's fast paced, you kill a lot of demons, the graphics are stunning, the movement mechanics are well thought out, there are various different demon types with different demons requiring different methods to kill, and glory kills are absolutely brutal. If that sounds like something you might enjoy, then I recommend you pick up this game, because it succeeds in all of those areas brilliantly.

The downsides however are somewhat obvious, it's brutal, it's hard, it's repetitive, and you might as well skip the special encounters because you do NOT have enough time to kill the demons even if you do know what you are doing. The slayer keys also just might not be worth doing, although they aren't that difficult. The button layout is a mess - to switch weapons you pretty much have to use the weapon wheel which doesn't feel great, unless you want to span your hand the entire keyboard. If you just want to relax and chill out after a stressful day, this is not the game for you. The most enjoying parts of this game for me were figuring out the parkour puzzles and combining it with the movement, rather than the actual combat. There's not really much a story either.

I imagine you are looking at DOOM for different reasons though, if you are on this page then you are probably person 1, and in that case, buy this game, you know what you are getting into, have fun, kill demons. If you are person 2, look at buying different games that are more relaxed.

I have no idea if I finished the game... it seems to hint there is no actual end... but I like the 3d non-euclidean concept. I'ts very interesting. A little bit saddened by lack of support for 1440p and refresh rates above 60hz, but for the time the game was created, these were reasonable assumptions, and definitely don't take away from the gameplay

If you are tired of the toxic live service trend, tired of negative teammates who only seek to bring you down, then this is the game for you.

The season pass is completely free, and allows you to unlock various cosmetics items to style your dwarf to your hearts desire. Some cosmetics can only be earned by forging, getting cores in deep dives (and regular missions) and forging them at the forging station. All of that is free. Every cosmetic ever in the game can be earned just by playing - just note that it might take a long time due to the sheer number, and that free cosmetics in missions are relatively rare.

Deep rock galactic fosters one of the most positive multiplayer gaming communities I have ever been in, and it is intentionally part of the game design. Yeah, there are bad apples here and there, but it happens in all games, it's really quite rare, and you shouldn't let it detract you from the core experience. They have a dedicated button to "rock and stone", a positive message, which can mean anything from celebrating a victory, or to hype you and your teammates up for the mission, or just for fun, it's a nice positive addition to the game which naturally creates a positive atmosphere everyone can enjoy.

Take a dive into multiplayer, the chaos of random teammates is what makes this game spectacular.

Kill bugs, complete the objectives, and don't forget to rock and stone.

Oh, also, don't forget to dip your balls in liquid morkite.

Live service garbage. Skins here, skins there, skins everywhere, EA is cash obsessed, why make a new game when you can milk your playerbase of as much money as possible? They got rid of quests, they got lazy, the only thing they do now is sell skins for $400 and they do this 2-6 times every season (3 months). They ripped the good mechanics and gameplay from titanfall 2 (which you should play) and slapped a hero shooter and skin shop on top pretty much. The actual game is secondary to the skins and the shops. The game was pretty good prior to season 8, it's best era was season 0 to season 5, but like all live service games it has gone downhill. I mean EA literally is the publisher for this game what can you expect? Play an indie game instead.

The game itself is fun, but the port is just absolutely terrible.

60fps cap is required for input to work correctly. Mouse has deadzones, so if you move it too slowly it will travel at 5% of the normal speed, but once you are past the threshold speed, it moves back up to normal speed. Really breaks the immersion and makes the game high key unplayable. The alien stays in the same 50m area, basically hovering around your head, knows where you are at all times, it doesn't feel intelligent, it doesn't ever leave you alone and then surprise you when it comes back, no, its constantly on your back breathing down your neck, and that's not fun, that's not surprising, it really just ruins the feel of the game.
