Steffen von Ozenberg. A forgotten Waffen SS commander of the Kampfgruppe Ozenberg with the rank of Sturmbannfuhrer. Famous for very high combat effectiveness of his unit during the battles of Kharkiv and Staligrad. In 1943, after the defeat of Paulus’s 6th army he was transported with his unit to the army group "North" where he fought in the Leningrad and Tallinn areas. After the army group „North” was encircled in the Courland, the Kampfgruppe was moved to eastern Germany, where they fought until the end of the war.
Officially, all remaining members of the unit were killed in Berlin during the last days of the war
