Many people would probably turn away from this game, because of the pixel graphics and simple combat mechanics. However...

I think it's beautiful. It's poor, it's dirty, it's raw. But it satisfies. A game which is very simple in it's structure yet delivers a ton of fun for hours. It's very replayable. I mean, come on, this is a classic of the rougelike genre. My favourite thing about Rebirth is probably the crazy combinations of items you can achieve. The endgames can be so chaotic and feel like travelling in time, grinding for the best combinations possible. Tboi: Rebirth awards you for indulging in various tactics dictated by the items you receive. It has masterfully executed RNG, which can be manipulated by the player in one way or another. The player takes different risks and achieves different successes each time. Do you gamble your life with the devil? Do you sacrifice hearts for the sake of greed? Do you pick up a mysterious item? There are many different ways you can achieve victory. I really have to point out a really original mechanic - curses. They add an extra layer to the runs, making them more difficult. Rebirth is actually quite difficult and the player requires some preparation for the later bosses. The title also has a great progression system, which makes you play the game more and more. Unlocking items, characters, challenges, floors and more!

The theme of the game really grabs my interest too. The religious references are so cool. The devil rooms and angel rooms represent the dualistic sense of the game. Turn right or left? Choose purity or evil? Fight a holy boss or fight the lord of the pit? Your choise.

The story of your mother trying to kill you in the name of god, which results in the character's descend into the depths of the basement is also very curious. The soundtrack is amazing and really pushes the feel of the game forward. The bosses and enemies of Rebirth are all very original. They also fit the story very well. They aren't very sophisticated. Most of them are quite formless or undead. It's very fitting - the basement should only hold nightmarish creatures that are fighting for survival in the darkness and lack resources for their living.

Afterbirth and Afterbirth+ add so much good stuff to the game. The stats HUD makes the game much more enjoyable. The revamped music is just beautiful. It's much better than Rebirth.

In my opinion the only thing that this game lacks is a good coop. Steam Remote is not the way. Whenever another player joins, he lags a lot. Please devs do something with this! I want to play with my friends!

Now I should just go back and play, because I need to unlock all those items, endings and bosses! :)
