Brian displays different personas depending on the circumstances and is very intelligent. He evades
the police, tricks Debra Morgan into loving him, and even deceives Dexter.

Brian has a fascination for (and attraction to) prostheses and limbs that stems from a traumatic event
he experienced at an early age when he watched his mother being brutally dismembered with a chainsaw. Monique reveals to Angel Batista that her prosthetic hand turned Brian on and he got "kinky" with it. According to Vince Masuka, a person with this type of fetish is called an "amputee devotee." Of note, he had a deep interest in Debra's legs, fitting in with his career in prosthetics and attraction to limbs.

Like his younger brother, Dexter, he can easily hide his true self by putting on a mask of deception. Since Brian was never taught a Code, it left him free to claim any life.
