After 6, less, or more months, 200+ hours of playing, I can say I kinda know how to play this game. And the first months or almost all my playing time was playing with mods and I would say HOI4 is a good game, I recommend playing with mods because it makes the game enjoyable and because you don't have to spend $85 on all of the Expansions that make the game good and some should be in the base game already Paradox! And of the lack of updates and some are small, bad, or good Paradox put out. And I recommend waiting for sale because HOI4 goes on sale a couple of times a year and I get HOI4 for $10.61 on Jul 2, 2021.
