Everytime I play this game It makes me want to delete windows systems 32 on my computer and jump out window. However, everytime I hear "I'M A MECHANICAL, I'M A MECHANICAL MAN!" I remember why this is one of my favorite 90s games.

The year is 1998, a very special era in gaming history, Sony and Nintendo were locked in figurative War to consistently manufacture phenomenal games to captivate their audiences, (A feat they both outdid, and continuously bettered time after time). Quite a wonder then how a small, unheard of studio nobody had ever heard of made history with a debut release, simply known as Half-Life.
There's nothing else to say other than: Iconic. Even when I didn't have a PC, The name Half-Life was always present in my head. after a long time, I finally decided to play Half-Life last summer after a friend gifted it to me. While I had played my fair share of icons and legends, games like Halo, etc. Even then this game surprised me. In Half-Life: you play as the famously muted scientist Gordon Freeman. blasting through droves of zombies and aliens felt fresh and unique, despite being almost like every shooter in existence. (other than valves iconic no-zoom) Everything about it was fresh and interesting, the phenomenal mix of shooter and puzzle, The strengths it had back in the day are the same strengths it has today. Its old, and its not a well kept secret, but that's an after thought. Half-Life captivated me. cruising through "on a rail" with Mathew wilder's break my stride keyboard solos playing through my mind, is a memory i will never forget, or sneaking through the environmental hazards of office will never get old. Each location felt realistic and believable, as if they belonged in an underground lab.
Now is Half-Life a masterpiece, No, Not really, despite the great game play and flawless build-up (not including Xen) it tended to drag on ever so slightly, especially if your opting to play its two expansions, opposing force and blue shift. But even with that, Half-Life is an undeniable must-have and must-play, even if just to see the nexus of ideas that revolutionized gaming as a whole. more than 2 decades after release, this game is nothing short of phenomenal, Luckily for fans, They wouldn't have to wait very long for more.
