Can I recommend it? - No
Why I can't recommend it - Frustration at every turn, with gameplay mechanics that make it unplayable in the long run.

Pros:
Graphics and sound effects are decent: War Thunder does a good job with visuals, and the sound of engines and weapons is immersive. But, that’s really all it has going for it.
Cons:
Hit Detection is Broken: The damage system is a nightmare. Every time you try to take out an enemy tank. Shots that should cause massive damage end up as minor scratches, while your vehicle gets taken out in one hit. Consistently frustrating and unreliable.

Unbearably Slow Progression: The grind is mind-numbing. It feels like the game forces you to either commit endless hours for minimal gains or spend real money just to progress at a reasonable pace. Without significant investment, you’re stuck with subpar equipment, facing enemies far more advanced.

Balance Issues Everywhere: Vehicles are either overpowered or completely useless. Some nations have vehicles that dominate the battlefield, while others stand no chance. This imbalance makes it hard to enjoy any variety in gameplay, as you’re either obliterating everyone or getting destroyed constantly.

Pay-to-Win Structure: Almost every new vehicle or powerful loadout seems hidden behind a paywall. If you want a competitive edge, get ready to spend money. For free-to-play players, it’s impossible to keep up, especially when premium vehicles are so much stronger than those available through grinding.

Inconsistent Matchmaking: The matchmaking system is almost as broken as the damage mechanics. You’ll often find yourself in matches where you’re grossly outclassed by enemies in much more powerful vehicles. This leads to repeated losses and kills any sense of fair play.

Terrible Community and Toxicity: The community is notorious for being unwelcoming and toxic to newcomers. Expect more salt than actual helpful tips or camaraderie. Veteran players often mock others who struggle with the game’s mechanics, which only adds to the frustration.

Awful User Interface: The UI is clunky, unintuitive, and feels like it hasn’t been updated in years. Navigating menus and settings is confusing, and basic options are hard to find. The poor UI design makes an already painful experience worse.

Lack of Effective Tutorial or Onboarding: New players are thrown into the deep end with little guidance. The game assumes you understand complex mechanics right from the start, which can be overwhelming and leads to a steep learning curve that isn't enjoyable.

Terrible Optimization and Frequent Bugs: War Thunder suffers from major performance issues. Even on powerful setups, frame drops, lag spikes, and crashes are common. Bugs and glitches are frequent, especially during critical moments in gameplay, making the experience unreliable and frustrating.

Final Thoughts
Honestly, I can't imagine anyone genuinely enjoying War Thunder in its current state. The game feels like a constant uphill battle, not due to challenging gameplay, but because of broken mechanics, exploitative monetization, and frustrating design choices. Unless you’re looking to throw money at every obstacle or tolerate endless frustration, there’s no joy to be found here.
