This review marks me hitting 1000 hours of playing this silly game I stumbled upon on game pass in 2020. And let me tell you why I CAN play it that much and not get tired of it: THE INCEST!!!! Hah jkjkjk. Some playthrough highlights:
-I took over Iberia as an Andalusian Mozarab and converted it all to the faith, from small Count to Emperor.
-I started the religion "Matildism" after starting as Duchess Matilda in Italy and re-birthed the Roman Empire,
-Starting under a King in Sweden - I took every island in the Atlantic and Mediterranean to be dubbed "King of the Isles" and then took on the Byzantines to take Constantinople and created a new Greek/Norse Culture...and probably killed the Pope on the way (in game). All of these playthroughs with all the murder and (maybe accidental) incest you can imagine!

There are so many little details and ways of playing the game, your ruler can be everything from a psychotic sadist who rules with an iron fist, terrifying everyone in their path or a....Wait is there any other way to play? ;-) The character events can be hilarious, unexpected and intriguing. These character based events and dealing with allies and vassals is the main bulk of the game. Wartime game play does have some nuance to it, but I wouldn't say is the game's biggest highlight, but it could be just my play style, I am still discovering new aspects of the game now. Overall, It's just fun, and not too demanding on the attention span like an action RPG, making it a solid game to have on while at a desk job.

As mentioned, even now after years playing I am discovering new aspects to it, as the devs keep the updates coming. , and it also very in depth vanilla-wise too. I will pick up a DLC here and there when they're on sale. I have good things to say about Northern Lords, Royal Court, and Fate of Iberia, but I hear the argument that these DLC's are a bit steep in price, and some are just meh, so choose wisely. With that said, I was just highlighting how the devs do a good job keeping the game updated, and they gatta pay the staff somehow, so no complaints here. If interested, I say wait until the DLC is on sale for sure.

TLDR - decent enough incest simulator

Not really a game review. I just want to leave a review to echo some of the annoyances of installing the EA app and signing into the game - They need to make games accessible - don't make it hard to log in. This is a Legendary game franchise indeed, but please stop the always-on DRM, EA. I am the a huge mass effect fan, I played the hell out of this, but I stopped at ME2 as I just got annoyed and tired of it. Not good business at all.
