Just Cause 3 is a great game ... with a catch.
Despite the marketing and initial impressions, Just Cause 3 feels more like a AA game that fufills a specific niche, rather than a AAA game. It has a great art direction, amazing soundtrack, and fantastic destruction physics. On the other hand, it's unfortunately is buried under a gameplay design in theory encourages a lot of crazy strategy and insane thinking, but in reality, players just tend to take the most straightfoward path, which is also the most boring.

I think the reason why players tend to just take the easiest path is because the game just repeats itself again and again. One can only destroy a statue through creative means so many times before getting tired and realizing a rocket laucher is the quickest and most effiecient means of destroying it.

This is the deal breaker for many people, the reptitiveness. Even though I love Just Cause 3, I fully agree with all of the criticisms it has. The world is too big, with too little aspects that distinguish the areas from each other. And the game feels more like a checklist after a few hours, because the inital fun and explosions start to wear out after that.

I'm not one to recommend a playstyle to someone or gatekeep a game to other people, because I want people to enjoy playing whatever games they want, but for Just Cause 3, I have to make an exception. You should only play this game if you're willing to be creative and have a huge tolerance for trial and error, because that's the only way JC3 gameplay designs will grow on you.

The gadgets and toys at your disposal creates an infinite amount of creative solutions, but only if you have the patience to fail and fail and again until you achieve the result you want. I'll give an example. There was a base that I wanted to attack with a car through the front gate. I didn't just want to bail out of the car, and let it crash. I wanted to bail out, let it crash, then blow it up with explosives. So I attached a few explosives on the rear, accelerated towards the main gate, bail out, let it crash into the explosives structures, then detonated. It took a few tries to achieve it but it was so satisfying when everything went according to plan. This, to me, is the real apppeal of Just Cause 3.

A lot of videos on youtube show a lot of crazy and creative ♥♥♥♥ that you can do with the equipments, but what they didn't show is the many trial and error process that it took to get there.

So going back to the title. Just Cause 3 is a great game, but it has a big catch. The big catch is there's a high risk of you getting bored of the game due its reptitive nature. That's why I believe JC3 is very niche, because it sets out to only fufill a very specific purpose, which is experimentational fun through trial and error. If you're the type of person who's very curious and want to experiment again and again without quitting, this game is perfect for you.

At the time of writing, the XXL edition which includes all of the DLCs is around $4 on Humble Bundle. I would recommend it, due to it being cheaper than the butter chicken dish I had for lunch. But if it's not on sale, don't get it.

Recenzja CS:GO
Death is a great teacher. Failure in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is, as it always has been for this series, the greatest way to learn where you should have gone, what you shouldn't have done, and how you could have done better. Counter-Strike players spend a lot of time learning -- consequently, they are always getting better.
Growth is an important factor in Global Offensive, especially if you're coming into Counter-Strike fresh or after a sabbatical. This is an extremely hardcore, skill-based first-person shooter, and it forces you to think differently than other modern shooters. If you’re a Call of Duty player, you’re going to need to change your play style to succeed here. Counter-Strike also tries developing into something new here as well, despite doing little to push itself beyond what it’s always done best. Global Offensive modifies old maps to keep veterans on their toes, and introduces official new modes that encourage different play styles for the first time in almost 15 years
