EDIT: They have since made major economy changes benefiting F2P, as a result I recommend this game now. The vast majority of the favorable parts of my review are still relevant.

Hello potentially new war thunder player! I'm sure that you've seen the avalanche of negative reviews and wanted to check to see if it was legit, and well, it is! I've been playing this game on and off since 2016 so I've seen this game from good, to meh, to bad, to awful, to the absolute ♥♥♥♥ state this game is in now. First, the gameplay is a highly accurate simulator of real-life vehicles from the Spanish Civil War in the 30's all the way up to modern tanks, jets, and WWII battleships! The music, animations, sounds, and graphics are top-notch and there's really no competition on the market for a game like this. It's fun, enjoyable, and a blast to get lost in. The problem is what happens AFTER a match. And that's where the negative comes in. This is a "F2P" but not really. The economy in this game is absolute ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. You'd think as long as you have the paid premium time or a paid ($60-70!!) vehicle you'd get good rewards and steady progress but getting tons of kills and captures will barely break even if you win if you die. Lose, or win and have a less than positive K/D, and say goodbye to your in-game currency. Yes, that's right, you can lose tons of money in this game if you have just a few bad games at the higher vehicles. In the state it's in now I wouldn't recommend anyone play, even if you're a wallet warrior, you will still be disappointed in this entire game from the mid vehicles to top tier. In short, run. Run as far as you can until this greedy company that makes EA look like a charity mends their ways and makes this once beloved game great again. Once they do, I will gladly change my review to positive.

I've locked these games since I was kid. It's great. It's hilarious. It will always have a special place in my heart and steam library :')
