1) The Thing.

Perhaps the biggest influence on the multiplayer action survival game is John Carpenter's 1982 sci-fi horror film. The idea of an alien lifeform hunting people in an isolated location sounds a lot like whats happening in Among Us. Even the developers admit this inspiration.

2) 12 Angry Men.

The famous "Emergency Meeting" mechanic of the game closely resembles the plot of this 20th century classic. Not because of their complexity though, but because just like the members of the jury, your activities will be disrupted in order to participate in a shouting match where every single person believes that you're wrong. Also every single meeting will age you by several hours so the resemblance is uncanny.

3) The King in Yellow.

While Among Us has little relation to the plot of Robert W. Chamber's book, it has similar properties to the play described in it. Playing just a single game will either drive you insane or make you extremely suicidal.

4) Undertale.

Much like this indie cultural classic, Among Us continues the tradition of being a small game for children that gets absolutely ruined by its community. Although it is much harder to do the recommended approach to such games - travelling to an uninhabited island to live without any contact with society until you finish the game - because the game requires internet connection.

5) The Holy Bible.

The concept of a Scapegoat being expelled from the community to carry away its sins looks a lot like what happens in Among Us. Perhaps the feeling of accomplishment the players feel after ejecting an innocent into outer space is a more modern take on the process described in Leviticus 16:12. Also the game is on its way to become an object of religious study and devotion just like the Holy Scripture.
